ICC World Cup 2019 Key Players
Players to look for- Angelo Mathews, Kusal Perera, Lasith Malinga
No one team in the world cricket faced voids as big as Sri Lankan cricket with the retirement of their greats such as Sangakkara and Jayawardene. However, the team did show improvements in bits and pieces in the recently concluded series, but they must bring in a fool-proof plan to perform better.
They would expect their old warhorses Lasith Malinga and Angelo Mathews to lead the bowling and batting respectively. The team has some real talents in the form of wicketkeeper-batsman Kushal Perera who can score freely, Lahiru Thirimanne and Karunaratne who has recently been asked to don the role of captaincy.
Players to look out – Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Shai Hope, Shannon Gabriel, Shimron Hetmyer
The West Indies side for the world cup looks promising as the players have individually contributed a lot in different tournaments, the problem, however, lies in clicking together. This world cup promises to be one event where the West Indies would like to regain their lost repute.
The old war dog Chris Gayle would probably play his last world cup and would definitely want to make it a memorable one. The Indies have cultivated a pool of young players like Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope and Oshane Thomas in the hands of whom the team looks quite promising.

The newfound hope also lies heavily on the shoulder of Andre Russell who currently is the most feared batsmen in the world with his power hitting in the IPL for his side Kolkata Knight Riders where he pummeled more than 50 sixes. Captain Holder would want to show his merit as well with ball with support from Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel.
ICC World Cup 2019 Key Players
Players to look out- Soumya Sarkar, Tamim Iqbal, Mustafizur Rahman
The Bangladesh Cricket team has always been the surprise package in the world cups and this time around they would not be taken lightly. The team, however, would want to leap ahead with consistent performances and would want contributions from Tamil Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar who found his confidence with a double hundred recently.
Experienced players like Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahman and Mashrafe Mortaza would be heavily relied upon while the burden of bowling would be taken care of by Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain.
Players to look out- Rashid Khan, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Mohammad Nabi, Mohammad Shahzad
The Afghanistan cricket appointed Gulbadin Naib as the captain for the world cup taking responsibility from Asghar Afghan drawing criticism from some senior players as well. But the new talents of the ICC cricket world cup 2019 would set aside differences to make a name for themselves in this world cup.
The onus would, however, lie with their talented leggie Rashid Khan to take maximum wickets. The batting too looks promising with Mohammad Shahzad and Hashmatullah being in top form lately. They would also want Mohammad Nabi to continue in the form of IPL and convert in the world cup.
Players to look out for- Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Shoaib Malik
It would be unfair to out judge the Pakistani side which has shown much improvement since the champions trophy in England. The experience of having won an ICC tournament in England would tremendously add to the confidence of the team.
The team would bank heavily on young opener duo of Fakhar Zaman and Imam ul Haq to provide a solid opening stand. Fakhar Zaman is quite capable of leading the onslaught with the bat and can turn the match single-handedly and the team would want him to play exactly how he played against India when the two teams meet again.
The middle order would be under the experienced duo of Shoaib Malik who has championed the Pakistani Cricket and the batting sensation Babar Azam. The bowling though looks a bit inexperienced but can’t be looked out.
While the world cup remains a mere 20 days ahead, the speculations are rife about teams and their star performers.
