The leading tech Institute IIT Bombay blacklisted nine companies including start-ups from placements for one year as a penalty for violations like revoking the offers and delaying the joining dates of the selected candidate.
Among the nine blacklisted companies, are the famous start-ups like the Portea Medical and Johnson electric of China, Peppertap which has been blacklisted because of revoking the offers to some of its graduates. Portea has reportedly raised 46.5 million dollars in two rounds.
Others who faced action for revoking offers include GPSK and Cash care Technologies.
IndusInsight, LexInnova have been barred from placement for delaying the joining dates of the selected candidates.
Another company Mera Hunar was found to have come up with a different name and hired students for another start-up, which attracted the penal action of one year.
Since IITs have a centralized placement cell, the action by IIT-Bombay will automatically bar the start-ups from approaching all other IITs in the country for Placements.
