Rabindra Nath Tagore was born on 07 May 1861 in Calcutta.

The Rabindra music is mostly based on Hindustani classical music, Classical Music, and the inherent Folk music of Bengal. Tagore created six new taals (rhythms) because he felt the traditional taals existing at the time could not do justice and were coming in the way of the smooth narrative of the lyrics.

Rabindranath Tagore composed more than 2,230 songs. His songs are known as Rabindrasangit. In 1931, Gitabitan was first published which was completed in 3 volumes. He introduced the best of Indian culture to the West and traveled to more than thirty countries across five continents.

How many national anthems did Rabindranath Tagore write?

Rabindranath Tagore is the only known person who wrote the national anthems of two different countries. He wrote the national anthem for India, “Jana Gana Mana” and “Amar Sonar Bangla”, the national anthem for Bangladesh.

Rabindranath Tagore died on August 7, 1941, aged 80 due to a kidney infection.

Tagore became the first non-European to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. In 1905, he received Noble award for his work in Geetanjali.

Patriotic songs in honor of our motherland, India.
