IND vs SA 2019 2nd Test Match Highlights – The second test match turned out to be a 4-day affair instead of 5. The visitors couldn’t handle the pace and spin of the dominant Indian bowlers. As a result, India clinched the test series by 2-0 at Pune.
South Africa was asked to bat again in this test match after they were bundled out for just 275 runs in their 1st innings. The visitors were again in a spot of bother with the bat. India, on the other hand, went from strength to strength in this test match.

Kohli and his men were again too good for the Proteas as the Indian bowlers managed to pick up wickets in a heap in the second innings of South Africa. Aiden Markram was again a disappointment. He was the first one to go on a duck. Ishant Sharma didn’t have to wait longer for the first wicket of the day. It was just the first over of day 4 where Ishant tapped Markram on pads. Markram couldn’t get off the mark, he was out for 0.
IND vs SA 2019 2nd Test Match Highlights – It was a good morning for the Indian bowlers. Theunis de Bruyn continued his poor form in the series decider. He was picked up by Umesh Yadav for just 8 runs. Then the visitors tried to rebuild the innings slowly as they went past the 50-run mark. Elgar and skipper Du Plessis shared a partnership of 49 runs which controlled the innings for a fair bit of time. But the in-form Indian bowlers put this partnership to an end before it could threaten them. Ashwin, the Indian spin magician broke this stand even before it reached the half-century mark. Du Plessis was out for just 5 runs and South Africa again lost the momentum as Dean Elgar also perished after getting a start of 48 runs.
It was India who controlled the game nicely. They picked up 4 wickets before the lunch session and were in the mood of finishing the match on day 4 itself.
IND vs SA 2019 2nd Test Match Highlights – The same story of South Africa continued after the lunch break. There were no big partnerships that could have troubled India. After Elgar, Temba Bavuma offered some resistance but he lost the support of Quinton De Kock. Ravindra Jadeja was straight into the action in the post-lunch session. He bowled De Kock for just 5 runs.
Temba looked good in this match as compared to the whole series. His resilience was ended by Jadeja on 38 runs. He fought hard but couldn’t stick to it.
IND vs SA 2019 2nd Test Match Highlights – The lower order batted more patiently and more rigorously than the top order batsmen. But Keshav Maharaj and Vernon Philander couldn’t repeat their performances of the first innings. In the 1st innings, it was the stand of 103 runs which frustrated India. The Indian bowlers didn’t allow the two tail-enders to go in the repeat mode of the 1st innings. It was Shami who picked up Muthusamy for 9 runs.
Then Keshav Maharaj and Vernon Philander tried their best and hung in till the tea break. They again got together and added 56 runs which again was the highlight of the day 4 play. This 56-run stand was the highest in the 2nd innings for South Africa. Their resilience again came in the way of the Indian bowlers.
IND vs SA 2019 2nd Test Match Highlights – But this time this partnership didn’t frustrate India for too long. Umesh Yadav broke this stand. He picked up Vernon Philander for 37 runs and 6 overs. Later Ravindra Jadeja trapped Keshav Maharaj lbw for 22 runs.
Kagiso Rabada was the last man dismissed. Umesh Yadav picked the last wicket. Rabada was out for just 4 runs.
IND vs SA 2019 2nd Test Match Highlights – South Africa was bundled out for less than 200 runs and lesser than their 1st innings score. The Proteas managed only 189 runs which allowed India to win the match and the series by an innings and 137 runs. The Indian bowlers continued to dominate with the ball. Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja picked up 3 wickets each to their name while Ashwin picked up 2 wickets. Shami and Ishant Sharma picked up one wicket each to their name.
The man of the match was awarded to Virat Kohli for his marvellous knock of unbeaten 254 runs.
