During his tenure as the coach, there were some happy moments as well. India’s victory over Pakistan in the Independence cup final was also one among them. We all remember Anil Kumble’s perfect 10 against Pakistan in Delhi. But one thing we don’t remember is that Kumble achieved that feat under the coaching of Anushman Gaekwad and that’s why Kumble remains the only Indian bowler to take the 10 wickets in test matches.

In the one day internationals, Team India won many tournaments like the Hero Cup in 1993 and the Titan Cup at home. With that, they also won the Singer World Series in Sri Lanka and the Will World Series cup. From March 1996, Sandeep Patil took over the coaching job of the Indian Cricket team.

Duncan Fletcher – Fletcher was appointed as the coach of the Indian team after the world cup triumph at home. Gary Kirsten was the one who brought the world cup home after 28 year long years and India was the first host country to win a world cup tournament that time.

The standards were set very high after Kirsten retired from India’s coaching job and the expectations from the fans were very high. But Fletcher’s coaching stint started at a very low point. After the world cup win, India toured England and lost the test series by a 0-4 margin and in the same year, India was once again whitewashed by Australia. Then, the Indian team lost to England at home where England won their first test series after 28 years.

But, there was a spectacular turn around in the 2012 and 2013 season. India whitewashed Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy at home. In the 50 over format, India went on to win every ODI tournament that they played. That also includes ICC Champion Trophy, 2 Celkon Mobile Cups and the 7 match One Day International series at home against Australia.

India also won a series on their tour to Pakistan that year and also reached to the finals of the world cup which was held in South Africa in 2003.

In John Wright’s coaching era, India grew from strength to strength. The performance of the Indian team in the 2003 world cup was the best after India won the cup in 1983 under Kapil Dev. Wright’s right coaching methods made Team India shine in all the three departments.
