India FIFA world cup qualifiers – The Indian men’s team football team reached Guwahati on Monday for the FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Oman on Thursday. The match kicks off India’s FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign, and also the joint-qualification process for the AFC Asian Cup China 2023.

Oman won’t be an easy game for the Indian team. As a part of their preparations for the 2022 World Cup qualifier they played a friendly game against Yemen on August 28th and a winning goal from Kano helped them maintain the 100 percent record under the new manager. This means that Oman have won four of their last five games in all competitions and are in good form ahead of the qualifier, they are still unbeaten under the new coach.

On reaching Guwahati many players started reminiscing their special bond with this place. Sandhesh Jhingan said that he always dreamt of playing for the Indian National Team and that dream of his came true at this very place, He said that coming back to Guwahati is always a homecoming for him. Sandesh also said that his best memory of his life is due to Guwahati.

Wingback Pritam Kotal could not hide his excitement either.  He said that there is a great link between Guwahati and him. He made his international debut here. He also mentioned that the people in Assam have had a tough time and they hope that they will be able to give something to the fans to be happy for. In the last two matches at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, the Blue Tigers have grabbed two wins – against Nepal (2-0) and Laos (6-1).

Midfielders: Nikhil Poojary, Udanta Singh, Anirudh Thapa, Raynier Fernandes, Vinit Rai, Sahal Abdul Samad, Rowllin Borges, Brandon Fernandes, Lallianzuala Chhangte, Ashique Kuruniyan.

Forwards: Balwant Singh, Sunil Chhetri, Manvir Singh.
