The New Year ushered in the maximum number of tiniest and newest residents in the country with the coming of 2019 seeing the most number of births in India. At 69,994 births on January 1, India topped the list of the most number of births in the world and have ever since added an approximate 2, 00,000 babies. Uttar Pradesh was home to the most number of young ones being born, with a total of 16,000 babies welcomed into the world on the first day of the year.
Of an estimated 3,95,072 babies born all over the world on the first day of New Year this time, India accounted for almost 18% of them with 69,994 births. Following suit was the country with the highest population in the world, China with a total of 44,940 births in the country. Joining the Asian countries in the top 3 was African nation Nigeria with a total of 25,685.
This data was provided by the UNICEF, which said, “In cities around the world, revellers will welcome not only the New Year with great festivities but also their newest and tiniest residents.”
The high number of births in the country on January 1 has alluded to the parents lingering stubbornness of having their children born on the celebratory date. A majority of would be parents urge doctors to push the date of arrival of their babies earlier to see them come into the world on the first day of the year. 2019 saw India top the list of the 8 countries who accounted for 50% of the global births on the very first day of the New Year.
India, the second most populous country in the world, home to around 1.3 billion people, is estimated to overtake China as the country with the most number of people by 2024 given the current rate of births in the country.
