India is all set to host England next year for Test, ODI, and T20I series respectively. The Test series comprises four matches while there would be a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20I series. As per the BCCI’s release, Chennai will host the first two Test matches from February 5 and 13.india tour of england 2021 schedule

The schedule will then move to the newly-built Motera Cricket Stadium where the two teams will face each other in the next two matches. The third encounter of the series will be a day-night game.

Motera will also host the five-match T20I series. The 20-over matches will be played on March 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20.

The ODI series will take place in Pune on March 23, 26, and 28.

In its release, the BCCI also announced that it will be the first home series for Team India since the COVID-19 pandemic. “The BCCI prioritizes health and safety of both teams and will leave no stone unturned to make sure that the tour is held adhering to all safety protocols agreed by the BCCI and ECB medical teams,” Jay Shah, BCCI’s Secretary, said.

“Both Boards have worked closely to put together an exciting series that promises to provide high octane action between two powerhouses of world cricket. This will be India’s first bilateral series at home since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and the home season will bring back joy to cricket fans.”

ECB CEO Tom Harrison added: “We have been delighted with the planning that has been undertaken by the BCCI to ensure the three venues in Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Pune will be ready to host international cricket in a bio-secure environment and look forward to working closely with them over the coming weeks to finalize those plans.

“The prospect of becoming the first international side to play at the magnificent Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad adds an extra dimension to the tour and I know will be something that is a highlight for both the players and management.”

The bilateral tie was due to take place earlier but the COVID-19 outburst pushed the schedule for next year. The Indian team is currently in Australia. They suffered a defeat in the three-match ODI series by a margin of 2-1 but get the form back in the T20Is and won it 2-1.

The Virat Kohli-led team will now face Australia in the Test series. The first match that would be played under lights will begin on December 17 in Adelaide while the other three matches will be played in day-light. Captain Kohli will return back to India after the first match as he and Anushka Sharma are expecting their first child.
