India vs Australia 2nd ODI 2020 Playing 11 – The action between India and Australia moves to Rajkot for the second one-day international match of the 3 match one-day series. This 2nd ODI will be played on Friday, 17th January 2020. India will want a magnificent turn around after being hammered by the Australian openers in Mumbai.
India’s bowling wasn’t good at all that lead Virat to become the only Indian captain to lose against Australia by a margin of all 10 wickets margin in ODI cricket. The likes of Bumrah, Shami, Thakur, Jadeja, and Kuldeep were not effective at all. Now, in this ‘do or die’ match, India will need their bowlers to step up.
Even tough 255 runs weren’t enough for India to defend, the Indian bowlers should have given a go at the Australians openers. The bowlers should have done what the Australians bowlers did to the Indian batsmen.
India vs Australia 2nd ODI 2020 Playing 11
The Aussie bowlers were cunning in their approach and drove the Indian batsmen forward and created an error that resulted in many wickets for Australia and that’s why the visitors bundled out India for just 255 runs!
India needs to bring that smartness in their bowling now and will need to use the same ploy to defeat Australia in the second game. India should look to play the KULCHA combo in this match just because they are effective in these kinds of situations. Another thing that goes in their favor is the pitch of Rajkot which might suit them.
Although the pitch in Mumbai supported the batsmen more, still India managed to put up 255 runs on the board. The pitch in Rajkot is slow and reports say that it will support the spinners. So the addition of KULCHA can help India to draw the series.
India vs Australia 2nd ODI 2020 Playing 11 – In the bowling department, India will have to drop Ravindra Jadeja from the second ODI. Jaddu hasn’t been that impressive with the ball. Against the Windies, he struggled and in the 1st game in Mumbai too, Jaddu didn’t look like picking up wickets. So in his place, India will have to play Chahal.

In the batting department, India will need to make two changes. The first change is to choose between KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan. Both of them contributed to the first match. It was their partnership that helped India in getting along nicely. Dhawan scored a vital 74 runs while Rahul scored 47 runs. But both of them failed to convert their starts into big scores.
Rahul hasn’t looked scratchy like Dhawan. So it will be a good idea to drop Dhawan and allow Rahul to open the innings with Rohit Sharma. This opening pair has given India a fair start in the innings and this pair will certainly allow Virat Kohli to bat at his best position.
The number three position certainly belongs to Virat in ODI cricket for India. He just can’t experiment with that number and cost India the game. He can experiment when the series is won. Virat has already created an unwanted record in his captaincy. Now under his captaincy, India should not lose another series against Australia at home.
India vs Australia 2nd ODI 2020 Playing 11 – The second and the last change in the batting line-up will depend if Dhawan plays the 2nd match. If he plays, then Shreyas Iyer should be dropped and Manish Pandey or Kedar Jadhav should be in. Iyer has struggled to bat well at number 5 or lower down the order. The likes of Manish Pandey or Kedar Jadhav has the experience of finishing the innings. With Kedar in the team, India will get another bowling option as well.
Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the second game due to the blow on his helmet in the 1st ODI. So, KL Rahul will be the keeper in Rajkot.
India can still play Navdeep Saini in their playing XI. Saini impressed a lot of people with his performance in the shortest format of the game, in his debut ODI against West Indies. Now, Saini can fit in the squad to face the mighty Australians too. Another thing which goes in Saini’s favor is that the Aussies have not seen much of him and that’s why he can be the X factor that India needs to level the series.

Australia has looked at the perfect team in the 1st ODI. They were brilliant with the ball and excellent with the bat. The highest opening stand from Warber and Finch ensured that the likes of Labuschagne, Smith, Carey, and Agar won’t have to bat in that contest.
It was purely a one-sided game where Australia marched on with complete dominance in Mumbai. Now, the men in yellow head to Rajkot with an aim for another series win on the Indian soil. Last year, they won the series despite being 0-2 down. In that series, Australia did not have Warner and Smith.
Now, with both of them being back in the squad, Australia will want to win another series under their belt. This has been an excellent summer for them in the test matches. Now, they will want to continue their summer in an excellent way with this ODI series win in India.

The Aussies are well prepared and also know that India will come hard to level the series. But Australia has the likes of Warner, Finch, Smith, Labuschagne, and Carey to do the job with the bat in the hand.
Starc, Cummins, Kane Richardson, Agar, and Zampa were the ones that applied the brakes on India. They will want to do it on a continuous basis. Australia is favorites to win this series because they look like the formidable side in this series.
