Both the teams are very excited to play this new test match as both of them had earlier turned down the offer. India didn’t play agree to play the day-night test match against Australia in 2018 at Adelaide while Bangladesh also turned down the offer for the same against New Zealand in the same year. Both the teams cited their reasons as not being used to play with the pink ball under the lights.

But now, since BCCI’s new president has been elected, both the teams have agreed to play the day-night test match on very short notice. Sourav Ganguly, the new President of the BCCI, decided to host this day-night test match within a week after he got elected as the President. Ganguly also said that Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper took just 1 second to say yes for the day-night test match which is why now, both the teams are geared up for this special encounter.
India vs Bangladesh Day Night Test Match – Bangladesh has to do a lot of thinking now after their batsmen collapsed in the first test match which was played at Indore last week. Their bowlers too couldn’t handle the pressure which was imposed by Mayank Agarwal, Chesteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ravindra Jadeja. Bangladesh lost the first test by an innings and 130 runs.
India vs Bangladesh Day Night Test Match Venue – Their batting was the main concern as they were bowled out in just 2 sessions in their first innings. Mushfiqur Rahim was the only one who continued his form from the T20 International series. But, the other who batted around him did not look comfortable against the Indian pace bowling trio.
India vs Bangladesh Day Night Test Match – This Indian bowling attack without Bhuvi and Bumrah looked lethal. Now imagine, once Bhuvi and Bumrah are back with Ishant, Umesh and Shami in their top form. This attack is the best in the world at the moment and a weak batting team like Bangladesh will find it difficult to handle just like the strong South African team couldn’t handle this Indian pace bowling attack.
For Bangladesh facing the Indian pace, the battery will be a huge task with the pink ball doing a bit under lights Bangladesh batsmen will have play cautious cricket. There were little careless at Indore but in Kolkata, they have to be careful and pose a good challenge for India with the pink ball.
India vs Bangladesh Day Night Test Match – Bangladesh is missing their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and their premiere opening batsmen Tamim Iqbal. In the absence of these two, the visitors now have an inexperienced batting order and will need someone like Mushfiqur Rahim to climb up the order and hold the innings together.
India vs Bangladesh Day Night Test Squad – They also don’t have Soumya Sarkar in their top order. He could have been handy at Indore. Sarkar could have contributed with the ball and could have also scored some runs for the Bangladeshi team.
The bowling too lacked their experienced Mustifizur Rahaman who was dropped out. Now their side is paying the price for that. Bangladesh now had only one experienced fast bowler in their team and they chose to drop him from the 1st test match.
India vs Bangladesh Day Night Test Match – Now Bangladesh can’t afford to do that with the pink ball test match. Fizz should be the leader of the Bangladeshi attack and should lead his team from the front. Even though he is not in his good form but Bangladesh only has Mustafizur Rahaman who knows how to bowl on these Indian pitches.
Abu Jayed bowled well and Bangladesh will hope that he continues his decent form in the upcoming series-deciding match. But, the spinner was too expensive, that’s where they will miss the experience of Shakib AL Hasan in the second match also.
India vs Bangladesh Day Night Test Match – Bangladesh went with just one spinner who was also not at his best, Medihy Hasan Miraj. He was clueless against the Indian batting powerhouse and wasn’t at his best. Miraj hopes to do well with the pink ball at Kolkata. Saif Hassan has been ruled out of the day-night test match. He was in the line for making his debut against India in the second test match at Eden Gardens. The 21-year-old opening batsman has a finger injury. He sustained his injury while fielding as a 12th man in the first test at Indore.

Mushfiqur Rahim, Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haque, Mohammad Mithun, Taijul Islam, Abu Jayed, Liton Das, Shadman Islam, Mehidy Hasan, Ebadat Hossain, and Mustafizur Rahman.
India, on the other hand, will want to continue their dominance in the newest format too. The men in blue did well in the white-ball series. They won the T20 International series after being 0-1 down. They lost the Delhi T20 International match but won the second match along with the third & the final T20 International match and the series 2-1 in the end.
In the 1st test match with the red ball, the home team rattled Bangladesh in just 3 days. India won the test match at Indore by an innings and 130 runs, with that win, India is now leading the series 1-0 and have everything to play for in the second & the final which will be a pink ball test affair.
India vs Bangladesh Day Night Test Match – India batted just once in the Indore test match. They had some handy contributions from Rahane, Pujara, and Jadeja. But, the double century from Mayank Agarwal stole the show from the other batsmen from India.
Mayank scored a sizzling 243 runs in the first test match. He also had two big partnerships that took India ahead of Bangladesh after the early loss of Rohit Sharma and skipper Virat Kohli. Agarwal shared a gusty partnership with Chesteshwar Pujara earlier and then Ajinkya Rahane.
These two partnerships took India close to the 500 run mark in which Mayank scored 243 alone. Jaddu and Umesh too scored runs at a quick pace. India declared a mammoth score of 493 runs in their 1st innings.
India vs Bangladesh Day Night Test Match – Then, the pace battery of India took the charge and bundled out the Bangladeshi batsmen for 213 runs in their second innings. Earlier on day 1, India first bundled out Bangladesh for just 150 runs. The Indian bowlers did this magic in just 2 sessions.
The Indian pace attack has been very promising and that too without Bhuvi and Bumrah. Shami, Ishant, and Umesh took their responsibilities well and delivered for the team in these back to back series.
India will expect the bowlers to shine with the pink ball as well. The spinners too were good with the red and the white ball. Ashwin and Jadeja will be seen bowling with the pink ball for the very first time in India. It will be interesting to see what will be the tactics’ applied by the spin duo of India.
India vs Bangladesh Day Night Test Match – Rohit Sharma and skipper Virat Kohli who missed out of the first test match will be eyeing to score a few runs in their first pink ball test match. Skipper Kohli bagged his 6th duck as the captain whereas Hit Man scored only 6 runs at Indore.
Eden Gardens is the favorite ground for Rohit Sharma because this ground is where he made his test debut and scored 2 centuries in the same test match against West Indies. The highest score in an ODI match came on this ground. The 264 runs against Sri Lanka by Rohit Sharma was scored at Eden Gardens. So, Hit Man will be eyeing for another big score on this ground itself.
India vs Bangladesh Day Night Test Match Preview – Probable XI of Team India
India will go with an unchanged squad for the historic day-night test match.
Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravichandran Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Mayank Agarwal, and Mohammed Shami.
