India vs England women second T20 highlights
Continuing their bad form in the shortest format of the game, another bad performance by India saw them condemned to their sixth consecutive defeat in the format. Putting on a show against India, in the end, it was as easy as it could get for England who made light work of the well below par 112 target set to them by India. After picking up wickets at regular intervals to find themselves in complete control of the encounter, England came out to pummel India in the early exchanges of the match. Hitting the ball to all parts of the ground, Beaumont and Wyatt ensured runs coming in thick and fast, leaving India chasing the match from the first over itself.
As the boundaries flew about for England, India were forced to ring in the bowling changes in the fourth over itself, turning to their spin-heavy attack to deliver a performance that would see them make a meal of this match. It paid off for them in the 5th over with Radha Yadav bowling wicket to the wicket to clean up Wyatt, a wicket that saw India enjoy a good period in the game.
Having gone in with a spin-heavy attack on a surface that was filled with cracks and dry patches, India’s wrist spinners saw the side come back into the game in the 5-10 overs period, pegging England back as they picked up wickets at a good rate. Jones, Sciver and Knight all followed Wyatt back to the pavilion one after the other with neither able to reach double figures, seeing England slump from 28-0 to 56-4.

With India controlling proceedings and the match looking set for a closer finish than anticipated, the fifth wicket partnership 47 between Wyatt (64) and Winfield (29) took the match away from India. Not only did the two see no further wickets fall for the tourists but in the progress ensured that the run-rate was kept well in check, peppering the Indian bowling unit with boundaries in each over.
Completely out of her depth for the second match in a row, Mandhana who stepped in for the injured Harmanpreet as captain of the side failed to make the requisite changes. She brought on Pandey back into the attack when the spinners were putting in a controlled performance. Coupled with poor field placements, the match took no time in slipping away from India’s grasps, one they finally ended up losing in the 20th over.
Earlier in the day batting first, India had put in an agonising show with the bat. No one shouldered the brunt of the responsibility to convert it into a big score. False shots and soft dismissals outlined India’s bad show with the bat, as they went onto lose three quick wickets in the powerplay overs, one the middle-order never failed to revive the innings from. Mandhana (12), Sharma (18) and Deol (14) all failed to make their runs count, leaving India just about managing to get past 100 in the end.
In the end, it turned out to be another floundering show by the Indian batters as they failed to work on the mistakes that have riddled the side ever since the world cup. It was yet another disappointing show by the hosts as they went onto concede their second consecutive series in the T20 format.
