After Hamilton’s super over win, India went in a repeat mode of doing the same at Sky Stadium in Wellington. After the early loss, Virat came in to bat with KL Rahul. As Rahul was well settled at the crease and Kohli was trying to find his feet, India got another blow. It was Kohli who mistimed the slower delivery and was out for just 11 runs.

It was Manish Pandey’s finishing touches which helped Team India again in scoring a competitive score of 165 runs in their allotted 20 overs. At one stage any score above 130 was not looking possible but Manish Pandey’s brilliant, unbeaten 50 runs ensured that India had something to defend.
Tim Southee was the leader of the New Zealand team in this match. He led his team through an impressive bowling performance. The Kiwis restricted the powerful Indian batting line up under the mediocre score. Southee took 1 wicket alongside Santner and Kuggelejin while Sodhi took 3 wickets and Bennett took 2.

But things changed for the better. Shardul Thakur’s 6th over made things easier for New Zealand. Munro smashed Thakur and gathered the lost momentum back. This kept their hopes alive. Seifert and Munro shared a partnership of 74 runs which threatened India to chase this modest score.
Nothing went in India’s way as Seifert was given chances in Chahal’s over. But Kohli’s athletic fielding gave India a ray of hope. Munro tried to steal a second run and that’s when Kohli throw thrashed the stumps of Munro and in the end, Munro was run out for 64 runs.

Ross Taylor and Seifert were out in the last over which was bowled by Shardul Thakur. It was this over from Thakur which ensured that India did not lose the match.
After Taylor and Seifert were out, New Zealand lost two more wickets in the same over. Daryl Mitchell was caught by Dube and on the last ball. Santner was run out when two runs were needed and due to that, there was another super over in this T20 International series.
