India needed someone to stay at one end and that’s what Rohit Sharma did. He saw two quick wickets falling around him as Skipper Kohli came in to bat. India was in a spot of bother.
Rohit and Skipper Kohli saw India through the drinks break. After the drinks, the hosts got a huge blow. Virat Kohli was trapped plumb in front. It was Anrich Nortje who picked up the important scalp of Kohli and by doing so he also picked up his maiden test wicket. Kohli was out for just 12 runs.

The second session was completely dominated by India. Rohit has already reached his hundred run milestone and Rahane looked very good too. Rahane made Rabada look like an ordinary bowler when he scored 5 boundaries off Rabada. Rohit and Rahane were unbeaten on day one.
