India vs Sri Lanka 2020 2nd T20 Highlights – It was an excellent bowling performance by Indian bowlers that allowed India to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20 International against Sri Lanka at Indore yesterday(7th January). Team India indeed made up for the washout game in Guwahati with a comprehensive performance.
Firstly, they restricted the inexperienced batting line up of Sri Lanka for just 142 runs in their 20 overs and then KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Skipper Virat Kohli had a handy contribution with the bat. This allowed India to chase down the modest target set by the visitors, Sri Lanka.

India won the toss and selected to field first in this match. But, the focus was on how India’s fast bowling sensation returned back to playing cricket. Bumrah was seen closely as he was given the very first over to bowl in this match.
The seamers leaked runs at the start. The downfall of the Sri Lankan innings started when Virat Kohli brought Washington Sundar in action. Sundar has been the power play specialist for India and delivered straight away.

But still, Sri Lanka raced away to score 142 runs because of Bumrah’s last over where Hasaranga scored three boundaries to lift Sri Lanka’s chances in the match.
The chase was just a mere formality that India completed with just a loss of three wickets in their innings. Dhawan and KL Rahul gave India the platform for this run chase of the modest score. Rahul looked in a blazing form but Dhawan struggled to match up with Rahul at the other end.

The partnership between Iyer and Skipper Kohli kept the Sri Lankan bowlers at bay. Both the batsmen motored along and kept the runs flowing with ease at a healthy run rate. The required run rate was 6 as Iyer scored a few boundaries but he couldn’t finish off the innings. Iyer was caught out to Lahiru Kumara for 34 runs.

He demolished the hopes of Sri Lanka when he pulled Kumara for a huge six over the deep square leg position. Kohli was unbeaten on 30 runs. During his innings, he scored his 1000 runs as the captain and also reached the feat of highest run-scorer in the shortest format for India.
India won the game by 7 wickets and 15 balls to spare.
The ‘Man of the Match’ award was awarded to young Navdeep Saini who produced an excellent spell. In his quota of 4 overs, Saini took 2 crucial wickets and gave away just 18 runs.
