India vs Tajikistan – India Leading
The Blue Tigers lost with 4-2 against Tajikistan in the opening game of Intercontinental Cup 2019. India had a great start in the game, when Chettri opened the scoring of the game in the fourth minute for India after placing Panenka against the opposition keeper in the penalty. That was won by a perfectly weighed pass to Chhangte, who was brought down the Tajikistan’s box. The Dynamos winger, Chhangte was once again involved in the action as he found Chettri in the box. He slotted it home and doubled the lead for the Indian team while completing his brace. As the half time whistle blew the Indian team was sitting on a comfortable 2-0 lead for Stimac’s men to defend now. Tajikistan had more of the possession which helped them have more chances but failed to make an impact in the first half. India made good use of their possession despite committing to a lot of unforced errors.

The second half started in the similar way with Tajikistan. Having more of the ball helped them win a series of corner. During the corners, Indian aerial defense did not seem to impress and seemed rather week. In the 56th minute Komron Tursunov opened the scoring for Tursunov after scoring on the rebound. Just 3 minutes later Boboev tapped it home to equalise for the Central Asian side making the score 2-2. A long ball over everybody from the Tajik backline fell to Muhammadjon Rahimov. He wrestled past an unorganised Indian defense and slotted it home past a hapless Gurpreet Singh Sandhu to turn the game on its head. Just like before 3 minutes later Shahrom Samiyev chiped the ball into the net doubling the lead. Tajikistan was able to exploit the lack of communication between the Indian defense and were able to find a way from being 2 goals down. India did get more chances in the second half but the players couldn’t make much from them and had to settle for a defeat in the opening game.
