India vs West Indies 2019 3rd ODI Match Highlights – It was an awesome game in Cuttack, one which was a pure run feast for the fans. The West Indies scored a decent 315 runs while batting first. India chased that target down with an excellent batting effort shown by the top three batsmen of India.

Kohli, Rohit, and Rahul slammed half-centuries while Jadeja and Thakur gave the finishing touches in the end. But the series end was with a no-ball, one that was the highlight of this three-match ODI series. The tour of the West Indies started in a good fashion. The Windies were competitive throughout this tour. It was an unfortunate way that a front no-ball was the decider of this series.

In this series-deciding match, the visitors lost the toss and batted first. Shai Hope continued his good work with Evin Lewis and shared another fifty run stand in the series. Their fifty run partnership was slow but allowed them to set up a platform for a good score on the board.

Then, it was Jadeja who broke this 57 run stand when he took the wicket of Lewis for 21 runs. It was flighted delivery which Lewis wanted to pounce on, but instead of that, he was caught nicely by Navdeep Saini in the deep.

But Shami broke his defense when Hope was clean bowled before he could reach another of his fifty in the series. Hope was clean bowled for 43 runs.

At the halfway stage, West Indies weren’t close to the three-figure mark. They needed some acceleration which Chase wasn’t able to provide them. But, Hetmyer stepped up for them. He gave himself a good start but it was the debutant Saini who made a strong comeback and removed Hetmyer and Chase in successive overs.

It seemed like Windies was fallen behind as they needed something to raise their bar. West Indies needed a competitive score to challenge and that was set right by Skipper Pollard and Pooran in the end. They took West Indies to the 300 run mark when it was not accepted.

Nicholas Pooran played an excellent stroke-filled knock of 89 runs while Skipper Pollard was unbeaten on 74 runs. It was Shardul Thakur who picked up Pooran but India still had Pollard which they failed to deal with. He continued his art of power hitting and in the process, he also reached his fifty.

In the absence of Bumrah and Bhuvi, India continued their concerns in the death over bowling department as West Indies scored 135 runs in the final 12 overs. They reached a good total challenging score of 315 in their allotted 50 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav was the zero after he became the hero in Vizag. Pollard took him to the cleaners as the chinaman couldn’t pick up any wickets in this crucial match. Saini had a good debut, he was the pick of the bowlers. He picked up 2 wickets to his name while Shami, Thakur, and Jadeja picked up 1 wicket each to their names.

The chase was set up by the Indian openers. Rohit and Rahul continued from where they left off in Vizag. It was an excellent batting display that enabled India to chase down the total of 316 runs. Rohit and Rahul added 122 runs to the opening wicket.

Jason Holder was the one who broke this stand when Rohit edged the ball to the keeper Hope. Hit Man fell after scoring 63 runs.

Then, it was KL Rahul and Skipper Kohli who steadied up the ship for some time. They both added 45 runs for the second wicket. But West Indies made another comeback when they got the wicket of KL Rahul for 77 runs.

A lot was expected from the middle order after they had put a good show in the first two ODI matches. Iyer, Pant, and Jadhav failed to continue their good form and fell very quickly and cheaply allowing West Indies to put India under pressure.

Just when this partnership looked set, Kohli dragged the ball on to his stumps and departed for a well made 85 runs. The wicket of Kohli put the crowd in utter silence. But, they re-joyed later as Thakur was found as ‘no mug with the bat’.

West Indies thought that the match was under their control but Jaddu and Thakur ensured that India chased down this target without any further hiccups. India was also helped by the no-ball which was their winning run.

It was possible only because of Jaddu’s unbeaten 39 runs which he scored from 31 balls and Thakur’s 17 runs off 6 balls. In the end, India held their nerve and won another series against the West Indies.

The match of the match award was awarded to Kohli for his outstanding 85 runs while the man of the series award was awarded to Rohit Sharma for his superb run score with the bat in the series.

India’s Next Match will be a three-match T20 International series against Sri Lanka starting from Sunday 5th January 2020.
