India vs West Indies 2nd T20 Match 2019 Highlights – A golden opportunity was wasted by the men in blue yesterday. It was a magnificent chance for them to seal the series at Trivandrum itself but the Indian batsmen couldn’t step up and accelerate and that is what helped the West Indies in leveling the series to 1 all.
West Indies won the toss and also won the match. Their bowlers did a wonderful job in restricting Kohli and co. to score just 170 runs and then Lendi Simmons led the chase. West Indies chased down this total without the services of Pollard at the batting crease.
India vs West Indies 2nd T20 Match 2019 Highlights
Before this match, Simmons hadn’t scored fifty-plus in his 12 T20 International innings but here, he had put that worry behind and scored a match-winning unbeaten 67 runs, guiding his team over the line.

India vs West Indies 2nd T20 Match 2019 Highlights – India does not have Jasprit Bumrah which is why they are struggling to defend totals in the shortest format. But, the other bowlers should have stepped up in this series-deciding match. Due to the onslaught batting done by the Windies, the Indian bowlers were forced to change their plans. The Indian bowlers couldn’t use the slower deliveries and cutters as the visitors did. They preferred to bowl short and then the dew too didn’t help India at all.
Lendi Simmons has been excellent against India in the past. We can never forget the lovely knock he played against the same opponent at the World T20 semi-final in 2016 held in Mumbai. Here, he started slowly and he presented a chance when he was on 6 runs. But, Pant continued to disappoint. He dropped Simmons on that score and because of him, the whole Indian team had to pay the price.
India vs West Indies 2nd T20 Match 2019 Highlights – Simmons was too good in the seasons of CPL as well. But in this innings, he didn’t have to worry much as Lewis, Hetmyer, and Pooran provided the big hits whenever it was required. He often hit down the ground and showed his class with his wristwork which helped Simmons to carry his innings along nicely.
Due to that mighty effort from Lendi Simmons, West Indies chased down the target of 173 in just 18.3 overs. Simmons was unbeaten on 67 runs along with Nicholas Pooran who was on 38 runs. Evin Lewis also contributed with 40 runs along with Shrimron Hetmyer, who continued his good form with 23 runs which he scored from just 14 balls.
India vs West Indies 2nd T20 Match 2019 Highlights – Earlier in the day, India batted first after West Indies won the toss. But this time, the batting wasn’t that good and the bowling and the fielding were even worse for the home side. The only positive thing that India gained from this match, is the batting form of Shivam Dube.
Shivam Dube was promoted up the order and he made full use of this chance. He batted in place of Virat Kohli in this match and scored his maiden T20 International fifty in the match. He also scored his fifty in just 27 balls.
But again, the failure of Rohit Sharma will worry India ahead of the final T20 in Mumbai on Wednesday. India started in a good fashion but the West Indies bowlers continue to strike out the Indian batsmen.
India vs West Indies 2nd T20 Match 2019 Highlights – Rahul departed in the 3rd over after playing a match-winning innings at Hyderabad. But here, he couldn’t continue with his good form. Then, it was Rohit and Dube who took India over the fifty run mark. But Rohit Sharma’s stay ended in no time.
Shivam Dube continued his class at the other end with the support of Virat Kohli. But soon, when Dube scored his maiden fifty in the shortest format, he was out to a delivery which should have been left alone. Instead of that, Dube went for a big shot and mistimed it completely. Dube was out for 54 runs.

Then, the wickets started to tumble for India. India lost the wickets of Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar at a quick pace. Rishab Pant was the one who guided the Indian innings towards the 20th over mark.
India vs West Indies 2nd T20 Match 2019 Highlights – But, he couldn’t do much because of the continuous fall of wickets. India scored just 20 runs in the last three overs and in the end, they scored 170 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
These 170 runs proved too small in front of the in-form West Indian batting line up. They chased down this modest target total in just 18.3 overs and had a victory by 8 wickets which helped the visitors to level the series to 1-1.
Lendi Simmons was awarded ‘the Man of the Match’ for his gusty and unbeaten knock of 67 runs.
The Third and the final T20 International Match of the series will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday 11th December 2019.
