West Indies have problems which they haven’t sorted out despite the losses they have faced. The main reason for West Indies is their batting and that hasn’t looked good in any formats of the game.

The batting has positive intent but it doesn’t click every time. Their batting is full of power-hitting but they should understand that a 50 over format is not about power hitting, it is also about playing carefully. Especially in the first 10 overs.

The Windies haven’t managed that well, we have also seen that in the world cup and the 2 ODIs that they have played so far. Chris Gayle is still the trump card for West Indies. He needs to fire up if they don’t want to lose another One Day series against India. The crowd at the Port of Spain will look for a Gayle storm on Wednesday and if the Gayle Storm arrives, it will be an easy one for West Indies to square the series 1-1.

Evin Lewis showed that he can bat well, but he needs to convert his starts. In the 2nd ODI, he played a good knock of 65 runs but if that knock was converted into a hundred like Kohli’s then West Indies would have put up a better batting show. Lewis needs to sort the innings to make Windies win this last ODI match.

Shai Hope is another concern for the hosts, he was out too early in the last match but, we all know that Shai Hope can play the long innings and now is the time that Hope delivers for West Indies.

The form of Carlos Brathwaite and Shimron Hetmyer is a concern for West Indies. Brathwaite bowled well after being wicketless in the 3 match T20I series. But, his batting form has caused problems for the home side. West Indies need his batting skills to come good as they would want to avoid another ODI loss at home.

Shimron Hetmyer’s form is also a worry for the hosts. If West Indies can replace him with John Campbell then it would be good. The inclusion of Campbell will give West Indies an extra bowler and will also make their batting deeper.

Nicholas Pooran should convert his start. In the last game, he played well for his 42 runs but he threw his wicket away and that caused the downfall of the Windies innings. Pooran is a good player and from now on, he should concentrate on building long innings.

The bowlers have done a good job. Cottrell, Oshane Thomas and Keemo Paul were good in the T20I series as well as in the last ODI match. They will look to continue their good work.

The Windies skipper, Jason Holder also needs to contribute his all-round skills. He didn’t bowl too well and his batting too looked rusty. Holder will want to carry his team forward in this crucial match.

West Indies will need an extra spinner all-rounder like Fabian Allen. They missed Sunil Narine in the last ODI match but now going only with Allen would be risky for the hosts. It was Chris Gayle who rolled his arm over in the world cup and West Indies will expect to do so in the last ODI match as well.

Team India will look to win the One day International against the Windies. Earlier on this tour, they whitewashed the West Indies in a T20I series. The visitors won the 3 match T20I series with a score, 3-0.

Now, Kohli will want to put another series in his pocket. The skipper was brilliant in the last game. His 42nd ODI century took the game away from West Indies. He would like to score another ODI ton and end the series on a high note.

Shreyas Iyer also had a good comeback. His 3rd ODI fifty ensured that India could at least go past the 250 run mark. Iyer scored a defining 71 runs to his name which might have even sealed a place for him in the squad.

The batting department still remains a concern for the Indian Team. The inconsistently in Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan’s performances will cause problems for India.

India needs a good start from their openers, but the openers failed to do so in the last game. Rohit Sharma was out early. He snitched a good partnership with Kohli but he couldn’t play the long innings which we are used to seeing from Hit Man.

Now, Rohit will want to end the ODI series by playing long innings. He has been drafted into the test side. So, he will want to play a long innings to justify his selection.

Dhawan too will want to play well in this last ODI match. He has had a poor come back into the international cricket arena. The way Dhawan left the world cup, one didn’t expect him to come back with such a poor performance. Dhawan’s place in the ODI was also set up in danger. He has lost his place in the test side. Now, if Dhawan doesn’t fire up then this might be the last match of his international career.

Rishabh Pant needs to work more on his inconsistent form. Pant should be the number 5 batsman for the last ODI. With Iyer in a good form, it would be ideal to let Pant bat at number 5. He could be the next finisher in the absence of Hardik Pandya. He also needs to be groomed for that one as well. Rishabh needs to play with responsibility. He shouldn’t throw his wicket away after having all the shots in his book.

The bowling is another positive thing for Team India. In the absence of Bumrah, the others have delivered well. Bhuvi was too good in the last match and so was Kuldeep, Jadeja, and Khaleel. These bowlers will want to continue their good form in the last ODI too.

India will look to give Saini, Chahal and Manish Pandey a chance in the last ODI. Saini can be replaced with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Manish Pandey or Yuzvendra Chahal could also come in for Mohd Shami.
