This onslaught was not ended as Rohit and Rahul were in full mood to take the game away from the visitors – West Indies. The openers shared their first-ever hundred run stand of this series as they went past the score 50 brilliantly.

These 100 runs were brought even before the halfway stage. Rahul and Rohit continued their onslaught and that is what took India to a strong position in the match. Their grip was so strong that even the wicket of Rohit Sharma didn’t allow to loosen it. Rohit Sharma looked to muscle the slower ball from Kesrick Williams and was caught brilliantly by Hayden Walsh Junior for a well-made 71 runs.

After Pant was out, it was the ‘KL and King Kohli show’ which gave India their 3rd highest total in the shortest format. West Indies were already out of the game but still, they somehow managed to sneak some quiet overs where the Indian batsmen only took some singles from it.

India completed their quota of 20 overs and scored double of the 120 balls that they faced. The men in blue scored 240 runs which is their third highest in T20 International cricket. West Indies kept India quite but that was not enough because those quiet hours were the only happy time for them.

All the bowlers were expensive from the Windies side. It needed something special for them to stop the onslaught from the Indian batsmen. But that special wasn’t produced and that’s why only 3 Indian wickets fell in that Indian innings. Only Kieron Pollard, Sheldon Cottrell, and Kesrick Williams took 1 wicket each to their names.

Lewis had injured himself while fielding at the boundary. So they had a new opening combination which didn’t do good for the visitors.

Brandon King opened the innings with Lendi Simmons. But India broke this opening stand before it could cause any further damage. It was Bhuvi who took the wicket of Brandon for just 5 runs.

And they continued to lose important wicket as Lendi Simmons couldn’t repeat his batting heroics like he did in Trivandrum. He was dismissed for just 7 runs. Mohd Shami was back in the side and continued to thrash the opening batsmen. He picked up Simmons in his first over.

Then, India had one more threat and that was the West Indian skipper, Kieron Pollard. He single-handedly used his power to take his team closer to the Indian total. Pollard’s massive sixes were a threat to India’s chances. But the over number 15 gave India the victory. Bhuvi struck again and removed Pollard and that’s where the hosts won the match and the series.

He picked up the wicket Walsh Junior and in the end, the Indian bowlers were successful and restricted West Indies for 173 runs in their 20 overs.

This was just a third win for Kohli and co while defending a total. This win largely came because the batsmen posted a mammoth total of 240 runs which allowed the bowlers to do their job. All the Indian bowlers were good on their day. But the comeback of Mohd Shami was the highlight for team India’s bowling department.
