The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced India’s 15 member squad for the last three ODIs against West Indies. Mohammed Shami makes way to accommodate the duo.

Coming back to India Vs West Indies BCCI announces 15 man squad, making a comeback to the 50 over format after almost a year, Shami failed to make the most of the opportunity given to him by the selection committee and team management. Going for 140 runs in the first two ODIs, Shami could just manage three wickets in the process. Failing to trouble the West Indies’ batsmen, Shami’s bowling was insipid and dull, making him the only player to be dropped from India’s squad for the remainder of the ODI series.
On the other hand, Umesh Yadav keeps his place despite not having done himself any favours either. Taken for 64 and 78 in the first and second ODI respectively, Yadav has been a sitting duck in front of the likes of Hope and Hetmyer who have thrived on his erratic line and length. Yadav was especially tormented in the last ODI where he was clobbered by the West Indies and also went onto give away 13 runs in the final over of the match to snatch a win away from India. His spectacular test performances which saw him pick up a ten-wicket haul in the last test match help him retain his place in the squad.
With India’s ace fast bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah being called up, the Indian bowling unit all of a sudden looks a changed unit. The nerves of watching India being on the back of another trashing have evaporated into thin air. We expect the side to go in with a combination of 2 pacers and 3 spinners for the third ODI to be played on 27 November, Friday as they look to build on their 1-0 lead.
The BCCI is expected to announce India’s 15 man squad for the upcoming 6 T20s, three each against West Indies and Australia on Friday. Visit this spot again for the first news on the Indian team for the T20s.
