The Indian fielders put down five crucial catches which could have helped them to restrict West Indies under 200 runs.
But the visitors continued to put on the woes on the hosts. In the last six overs, West Indies scored 66 runs which also included 17 run overs in the 18th and the 20th over. West Indies piled up a huge score of 207 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

But it was KL Rahul and skipper Virat Kohli who steadied the innings and guided India to victory. This innings from Virat saw two Kohlis. One who struggled at the start and the other was just awesome to watch in the end. At the start, the skipper struggled to time the ball, he often mistimed many shots and those couldn’t come off the middle of the bat.

Rahul got his back to back fifties in style but after that, he hit the ball straight to Kieron Pollard off Kharry Pierre’s delivery which allowed West Indies make a comeback in the match. Rahul departed after scoring 62 runs.

He remained in shape as it was necessary because the required run rate was high. He drove the slower delivery from Pollard for a huge six. This shot was pure timing from Kohli and that was the shot which allowed him to realize his strength.
From that shot, there wasn’t a single unconvincing shot from Virat Kohli. After that Kohli went at a brisk pace and smashed another boundary off Keserick Williams bowling. But that didn’t stop Kohli and in the next over from Pollard gave India another blow. Pollard dismissed Shreyas Iyer with a mind-boggling return catch of his bowling. Iyer was out for just 4 runs.

At last, Kohli smashed two more sixes and wrapped up the run chase in style. India is 1-0 up in the series as the men in blue won this 1st encounter by 6 wickets and 8 balls to spare.
Man of the match was awarded to Virat Kohli for his phenomenal batting display. He guided his team in this run chase and was 94 not-out in this match.
