Coming back to India Vs West Indies Second ODI 2018, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli dished out special performances in the first ODI against West Indies to give India a winning start to the five-match series. Going on a high into the second ODI to be played on 24th October, Wednesday, the Indian unit will be quietly confident of putting in another world-class performance.
Despite putting in an emphatic performance in the first ODI that saw them win by a comfortable 8 wickets, the Indian team’s performance was far from complete. The pace trio of Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Khaleel Ahmed were taken for runs by the West Indies, something the Indian will be looking to rectify come tomorrow.
In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the Indian bowling unit looked a bleak unit. Lacking the bite and pace needed to pose questions to the West Indies batsmen, the pacers were ripped into. We expect the team management to bench Khaleel Ahmed and should see the return of Kuldeep Yadav to the side in a move that will strengthen and bolster the Indian spin attack.
For the West Indies, there were more positives than negatives to take away from the match. Pure hitting from Hetmyer and Hope saw them record a mammoth total. A few contributions from the rest of the batting line-up could propel them to another fighting total tomorrow on a pitch that is going to be a heaven for batsmen.
While the batsmen stepped up to the plate, the bowling line-up was far from what the West Indies would have expected. Pacers Holder and Nurse were off-colour, leaking runs by the minute. The bowlers will need to sort out their act, otherwise, any total is going to be undependable infront of India’s mercurial batting line-up.
Head-to-Head (last five matches):
