Topping the list, he once weighed 105 kg and could not even walk a kilometer in an hour. His father, Shri Dhirubhai Ambani, warned him, “Son, you can buy any luxury with money, from clothes to food and a home to a holiday. But you can’t buy health. Do whatever it takes, to make you feel good.” Since then he began running and now weighs 68 kg. He has run many national and international Marathons since then. Healthy eating, no alcohol or smoking are part of life for him as also running out in the open for about 10 km a day is his daily routine now.

2 – Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons, 56

He started running to battle the onset of diabetes which runs in the family. He got hooked to the sport and has run many full and half marathons. Chandrasekaran, who also works out at his personal gym, said running gives him time to reflect on issues and also let him realize that there are no short-cuts in life.

 

3 – Ajith Karimapana, the Furlenco founder- 39

Ajith has taken up to underwater workout, a regimen that is labeled as the next big global fitness trend. The rising stress levels at work convinced Karimpana to take up fitness seriously. He says water workout is more intense than the one in the gym; he performs it under the guidance of his trainer and hopes to work-out in the water of the Ganges in Rishikesh sometime.

 Anand generally remains low-key when it comes to his fitness regimen, is a regular marathon runner. His home gym is where he spends hours booting his physical and mental health. Being a fitness lover and money being no bar, he has got the best of machines in his home gym. He says “Any exercise machine is a brutal reminder of time passing. But who cares? I plan to still be on the machine when I trip the next age band!”

 

5 – Rajiv Mehta

Founder director, KAN DFY Sports (former head of Puma India): Mehta is very particular when it comes to his health and wellness; he not only works hard in the gym but also encourages his colleagues to spend some time working out. His passion for running started during a trip to Sri Lanka in 2011. He manages to train every day for about 40 minutes and his habit of getting up at the same time every day makes this task easier for him. He thinks that a fit leader can lead by example to motivate his employees to stay fit as also can be a walking-talking ambassador of his own brand.
