Indian Cricket Team Head Coach – The job of a head coach in the team is very important. He is either the guy who can take things forward or can take you back. Coaches are the pillars of any team because they are the guiding mentors on and off the field. India has been lucky to have Gary Kirsten in the 2011 season. That’s why the men in blue won the world cup at home. But Team India wasn’t that lucky to have Greg Chappel as their coach which is why India had a very early exit from the 2007 world cup. Chappel was also instrumental in ending the career of Sourav Ganguly. Rahul Dravid was also made the captain at the wrong time. One will say that Chappel was the worst coach of team India till now.

Rahul Dravid has been doing an excellent job with the under 19 team and also with the members of India A. The Wall was instrumental in under 19 team’s world cup win. But many of the fans and cricketers are not happy with India’s current head coach, Ravi Shastri. This unhappiness is shown mainly because of India’s loss to New Zealand in the world cup 2019 semi-final clash.

So, today we see what exactly is the Job of a Head Coach in the Team –

  • The first thing that the head coach should do is to allow the players to feel comfortable and he should allow the players to play their own, natural game with sticking to their basics.
  • The coach must motivate the players to reach their maximum potentials. The Head Coach should also be able to guide the players in analyzing their present to future journey in the game that they are all passionate about.
  • It is the responsibility of the Head Coach to work on the weak areas of each player and tell them to make amends with his valuable inputs and suggestions.

  • The Head Coach should know how to deal with the pressure situation and it is the responsibility of the Head Coach to boost the morale of the players in such a time.
  • In case of any fights or rifts between the players, the head coach must resolve the issues immediately.
  • The Head Coach will have his say in the strategic decisions. This includes the addition or exclusion of players from the playing XI.
  • The Strategies made during the match should be passed to the players through the mouth of the Head Coach, not his substitutes or any other mediator.

All these points above are the most basic yet the most important job of any Head Coach of any team.
