Indian Football Team to add Iranian born Omid Singh to the Team
Indian Football Team – Indian team’s Head Coach, Igor Stimac is already looking at ways to strengthen the Indian football. He is looking to call Omid Singh an Iranian footballer to play for the Indian Team. As we have seen in European Football, many players are able to switch the country they play for if they have a mixed descent. Similarly, with Omid, his father is an Indian. However, he was born in Iran. Omid Singh holds an Indian passport and has been invited by Stimac to join the Indian team.

Omid Singh is a 28-year-old left winger who also plays left back for Nassaji FC in the Iran Pro League. He started his playing career for Iranian outfit, Gahar Zagroz. He then went on to play for the top football clubs like Naft Masjed Soleyman, Esteghlal Khuzestan, Pars Jonoubi and Nassaji. Omid will immediately strengthen the Blue Tigers if he gets the opportunity. The problem here is that the Indian team does not allow players to hold dual passports so in this case, Omid will have to give up his Iranian Passport and make the Indian passport his default in order to satisfy the rules and regulations.

“I liked to play for Iran national football team, but I was not invited to Team Melli. At the moment, Iran is one of the best teams in Asia and it’s hard to be part of the team. Mr. Stimac called me and I accepted to play for India,” Omid Singh told the media.
