It has been recently reported that Documents containing details of “the secret combat capability” of India’s Scorpene submarines have been leaked.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar described it as the case of hacking and said he has found out about the leak at midnight.
He said, “The first step is to identify if it’s related to us, and anyway it is not all 100% leak”.
It is not cleared as to who is responsible for the leak, India or France, The French government-owned company- DCNS is designing Scorpene submarines for India at the cost of 3.5 billion dollars.
The Australian, which first reported on the leak today, said that more than 22,000 pages documents contain “the most sensitive combat capabilities” of India’s submarine fleet, and it can be an “intelligence bonanza” for its rivals such as China and Pakistan.
The leaked documents contain details on frequencies at which the submarines gather intelligence, the levels of noise they make at various speeds, diving depths, range and endurance, magnetic, electromagnetic and infra-red data.
