Dhirubhai Ambani – The man who founded Reliance Industries
Dhirubhai Ambani was the son of a village school teacher, Hirachand Gordhanbhai Ambani, and Jamnaben Ambani. He was born on 28 December 1932 in Junagadh district, Gujarat.
Dhirubhai started his journey by selling bhajias. After completing his matriculation, he moved to Aden, Yemen, and there he started working as a gas-station attendant, and later clerk in an oil company. At that time, he was just 16.
In 1958, Ambani returned to India with Rs 50,000 and set up a textile trading company. He put in a lot of hard work and took the Reliance group to greater heights. Reliance became the first Indian company to raise money in global markets in 1992.

Karsanbhai Patel, Founder of Nirma Group
Karsanbhai Patel was born into a farmer family in Gujarat. After completing his B.Sc. in Chemistry he started working as a lab technician in the New Cotton Mills, Ahmedabad. In 1969, he started making detergent powder in the backyard of his house in Ahmedabad and sold it from door to door. When the cheapest detergent in the market was priced at Rs.13/kg he used to sell his detergent powder for Rs.3/kg as he wanted to focus on the middle and lower-middle-income segments. Now his company, The Nirma Group employs more than 18,000 people and has a turnover of more than Rs.7,000 crores.

Mahashay Dharampal Gulati: Owner of MDH
Mahashay Dharampal Gulati, famously known as the ‘MDH uncle’, ‘Dadaji’, ‘Masala King’, or ‘King of Spices’ is the owner and CEO of MDH (Mahshian Di Hatti). He migrated to India during partition and moved to Delhi in search of work. Mahashay Dharampal Gulati opened his first spice shop in Karol Bagh, Delhi. He continued to build up from 1953 in Chandni Chowk, 1959 in Kirti Nagar, and so on. Today, MDH Masala is famous all over the world. In 2017, Gulati became the highest-paid FMCG CEO in India.

Narayan Murthy was born in Karnataka in a Middle-class family. He wanted to be an engineer and cleared the entrance exam of the IIT. However, he couldn’t get into the college as his father’s earnings were not enough. Later, he joined an engineering college and completed his graduation in Electrical Engineering. After that Narayan joined IIT Kanpur for his Master’s degree.
He is known as the father of the Indian IT Sector. He is the co-founder of Infosys and had been chairman, chief executive officer, president, before retiring. Murthy has also been honored with Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri.
