For all of India’s fine play, it was their skipper Sunil Chettri who once again proved to be the game changer. He scored in the 8th minute after a free kick from Anirudh Thapa was flicked perfectly by him into the back of the net. He once again found the goal in the 29th minute to race his side into a 2-0 lead and with that also became the joint second-highest scoring international footballer. He moved levelled on 64 goals with Lionel Messi, only behind Ronaldo’s 81 now. Although Kenya did regroup after going two down, India’s defence and midfield was rock-solid, ensuring the hosts won comfortably.
