Indian Football Team decided for 2019 Intercontinental Cup
Indian Football Team Coach, Igor Stimac named his 35 man squad for the 2019 Intercontinental Cup which is going to be held in Ahmedabad. India will be facing the likes of Tajakistan, Syria, and DPR Korea in the tournament. India is the defending champions of the 2019 Intercontinental Cup and would like to keep that title. India’s opening game is against Tajakistan, on July 07 with the next game being against DPR Korea.
Korea is a world cup veteran and has never lost to India, they will start as favorites to win this cup and take away the title from the Indian Team. Korean strikers Pak Kwang-ryong and Kim Yu-song together have 21 goals in 50 matches.

Stimac stated that “all players worked really hard at the preparatory camp in Mumbai.”
“We are satisfied with the execution of work for the past ten days,” he informed. “The players worked really hard, and we are all very enthusiastic about our upcoming games,” he added. Stimac has called back Anas Edathodika, the 35 year old defender, who took retirement from football after the Asia Cup exit in UAE to add to the Indian Football Team. Sunil Chhetri, Adil Khan, and Ashique Kuruniyan could play crucial roles in winning the ball and launching attacks up front. Brandon Fernandes is another interesting name in the squad who may play a role as a holding midfielder.
Defender turned Kamaljit Singh has also made the cut who plays for FC Pune City. He is yet to make debut for the Indian senior football team, he made 59 saves in 14 matches. During an interview Kamaljit said,“My next job is to seal a place in the final list of 23 for the forthcoming Intercontinental Cup,” which he has now successfully managed to do. He will be joining the Indian Football Team for the upcoming tournament.
