International Airport to be built near Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal in Agra is the most sought-after place for tourists coming to India from Different parts of the world. Travelers usually had to land to Capital city Delhi and then Make 200 km Journey to Visit the TAJ. Good news is that they don’t have to make this 200 km journey anymore as Defence Ministry has cleared a proposal to build an International Airport.
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that they will provide 150 acres of land. The upgrade of the runway is expected to cost Rs. 100 crore and the work will be carried out under the supervision of the Air Force.

In early 2017, Assembly elections are to be held where Akhilesh Yadav’s Government is keen to start the project. An airport in Western Uttar Pradesh and High Court bench are two major demands of the voters.
State chief secretary Deepak Singhal said “I have already visited the site. The work will start soon and we plan to finish by March 2017”.
There had been a negative impact on the tourism industry due to the absence of direct commercial flights. Currently, the city is well connected by the rail and road routes and can be accessed accordingly.
