RR Vs MI Match Highlights– RR Record Second Win

Things went from bad to worse for defending champions Mumbai Indians who are now looking a pale shadow of last year. A last over defeat by Rajasthan Royals saw them slump to their fourth defeat of this year’s IPL from five matches, just above Delhi Daredevils who sit bottom on run rate. A late onslaught by Rajasthan saw Mumbai lose the match from a winning situation and summed up their season till now.

The second match of Super Sunday between RR Vs MI was just as exciting as the first match. Both sides desperate to get a win under their belt and with it some confidence going forward, the tensions were at an all-time high when both captains stepped out for the toss. Coming out to bat first in a vital contest for both, Mumbai Indians got off to a dream start with Indian pair Yadav and Kishan getting stuck in the middle. One of the slowest starts in this year’s IPL failed to demoralise the two youngsters who seemed set to prove a point to the selectors watching them. Suryakumar Yadav was in fine tough on the night as his subtle flicks and deft touches were the toast of his innings. He raced to 72 off 47 and he along with his partner Kishan who got an equally impressive 58 off 47 took MI past 100 at the loss of just one wicket, providing the perfect platform for their middle-order. However, for the umpteenth time this tournament, the middle-order failed to deliver for MI. Despite Pollard, none of the batsmen was able to get to double figures and this ended up costing MI who in the end managed an average total of 167 on a good pitch.

RR Vs MI Match Highlights – The Royals lost their inform captain Rahane and opener Tripathi within the powerplay overs to give Mumbai a ray of hope. That hope soon died for the visitors though as orange cap holder Sanju Samson proved why he is so highly rated in the domestic circuit. Another half-century by him was superbly complemented by Ben Stokes and the pair looked the be cruising to victory until Pandya happened to Rajasthan. His tight third over saw him pick up two of two, sending the set batsmen back to the hut and put Mumbai in the pole position. Sure of a victory, defending 28 off 2 overs, Mumbai self-destructed. An ever so surprising inning of 33 in less than 2 overs by Gowtham took Rajasthan to victory.
