Everything you need to know about the IPL 2019 Chennai Super Kings team.
Ever since the Indian Premier League made its foray into the cricketing fraternity 12 years back, the Chennai Super Kings have had a simple tactic ever since. Throughout their stay in the tournament, the 2018 champion side have kept their main group of players intact, keeping the identity of the team same. It’s something that has served them well over the years, giving them 3 titles, with the same game plan being opted for IPL 12.
Having released just 3 players before the auctions began; Chennai Super Kings went into the hectic period preceding the tournament as the side that needed to do the least bit of work. Needing to add just two players to complete their team composition, the side went onto add Mohit Sharma and Gaikwad, spending Rs.5.2 crores in the progress.

Sharma, a pacer was bought for Rs.5 crore by the outfit. Having been a part of the CSK unit earlier as well before going onto play for the Kings XI Punjab, the CSK is familiar with how to utilise him. It’s not a word class addition to the side though, with bowler not known for his exceptional performances and it still leaves a gaping hole in CSK’s pace unit which is hardly befitting of one that can see them defend their title.
The other buy that came in was the one who lapped up for his base price of Rs 20 lakh. Having played just nine first-class matches for Maharashtra, he’s unlikely to find himself getting too much playing time with the CSK batting line-up selecting itself on any given day. It’s a framework that has immense depth in it, going on till as low as number 8 with Jadeja completing one of the best units in the exhibition league.
The team sees Watson and Vijay open, following up with Faf du Plessis, Rayadu, Raina and Dhoni in the middle-order before Jadeja, Jadhav, and Bravo complete an extremely menacing looking combination. It’s without a doubt the strongest unit in the game, filled with batsmen who have at their expertise the ability to take apart any bowling line-up.
