IPL 2019: Today IPL Match Live Updates CSK v DC 50th Match MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai – Chennai won by 80 runs

Today IPL Match Live Updates CSK v DC 50th Match:

  • CHENNAI 179/4 (20.0)
    DELHI 99-all out (16.2) CRR: 6.06
    Chennai won by 80 runs
  • By the virtue of this defeat, DC’s net run-rate has bee pulmerised into negative. If Mumbai can win tomorrow, Delhi will be right out of the top 2, a position that will be a predicament losing. The team selection continues to flabbergast us and massive changes are needed if the side are to get their season back on winning ways.
  • And Delhi are bowled out for under 100. Tahir gets Mishra as the final wicket as the visiting side fail to increase cross the three figure mark. This is a mammoth 80 run defeat for the Capitals who’ve been decimated by CSK. Rude awakening call for DC ahead of next week’s knock-out phase
  • Tenth Wicket : Mishra c Dhoni b Tahir 8(11) [4s-1]
  • END OF OVER:16 | 7 Runs 1 Wkt | DC: 99/9 (81 runs required from 24 balls, RR: 6.18, RRR: 20.25)
  • Ninth Wicket : J Suchith run out (Watson) 6 (15b 0x4 0x6) SR: 40.00
  • Ninth goes back for Delhi. It’s all falling for CSK and this times it’s Watson with the direct throw who gets the run-out. 92-9 and CSK showing why these bits of fielding are so important. A stark contrast to how sloppy Delhi were out there
  • DELHI 92/8 (15.0) CRR: 6.13 REQ: 17.6 Delhi Capitals need 88 runs in 30 balls
  • CSK just a mere formality away from a win now as Delhi find themselves in the trunches at 92-8 after 15 overs. Their quest to win this has fizzled out before it could sizzle and what will be a massive setback for them is their run-rate which will pummel straight downwards.
  • DELHI 89/8 (14.0) CRR: 6.36 REQ: 15.17 Delhi Capitals need 91 runs in 36 balls
  • END OF OVER:13 | 1 Run | DC: 86/8 (94 runs required from 42 balls, RR: 6.61, RRR: 13.42)
  • END OF OVER:12 | 2 Runs 2 Wkts | DC: 85/8 (95 runs required from 48 balls, RR: 7.08, RRR: 11.87)
  • Delhi showing their biggest weakness here. If the top order can’t perform, the middle-order is one that will never step up. They’ve gotten away far too often with poor team selection but ahead of the knock-out stages, it’s time now more than ever to fit Munro in this line-up.
  • Eighth Wicket :Shreyas Iyer st Dhoni b Jadeja 44(31) [4s-4 6s-1]
  • Seventh Wicket : Chris Morris st Dhoni b Jadeja 0(1)
  • END OF OVER:11 | 3 Runs 2 Wkts | DC: 83/6 (97 runs required from 54 balls, RR: 7.54, RRR: 10.77)
  • Double blow for Delhi in this over sees them tumbling down by the minute. Second wicket in the over for Tahir, Rutherford tries to drive, ball hits his outside edge and Chahar picks up the catch to send the batsman back for 2 runs. Extremely dejected showing by Delhi who are in danger of being bowled out here
  • Sixth Wicket : Rutherford c Chahar b Tahir 2(4)
  • Safe to say that Delhi’s fate has been decided here. As Axar becomes the latest casualty, Delhi find half their side sitting back in the pavilion with not even half the runs gotten.
  • Fifth Wicket : AR Patel c Watson b Imran Tahir 9 (9b 1×4 0x6) SR: 100.00
  • DELHI 80/4 (10.0) CRR: 8 REQ: 10 Delhi Capitals need 100 runs in 60 balls
  • Over 10: All about holding fort for Delhi. The 12 overs of spin that CSK have always opted for at this venue have wrecked havoc in Delhi’s ranks, mauling them so easily courtsey of murky batting by the visiting side. This is the last stand that can see Delhi win this match and they need to play out the next 5 overs carefully. 80-4
  • DELHI 75/4 (9.0) CRR: 8.33 REQ: 9.55 Delhi Capitals need 105 runs in 66 balls
  • END OF OVER:8 | 2 Runs 1 Wkt | DC: 67/4 (113 runs required from 12 overs, RR: 8.37, RRR: 9.41)
  • Fourth Wicket : CA Ingram lbw b Jadeja 1 (5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 20.00
  • Ingram takes the review but he was never sure about it. The on-field umpire has given it out and the spin on that ball just wasn’t spinning enough to miss the leg-stump. As he goes back for the 1 run, Delhi have completely lost their way. They’re falling apart at 66-4
  • END OF OVER:7 | 6 Runs 1 Wkt | DC: 65/3 (115 runs required from 13 overs, RR: 9.28, RRR: 8.84)
  • Third Wicket : Pant c Dwayne Bravo b Tahir 5(3) [4s-1]
  • Tahir gets Pant. Not the most surprising of dismissals given Pant’s travails against the slower stuff is well known. He gives Bravo the catch to leave for 5 runs and the way he’s completely failed to work on his weak points time and time again is woeful to see
  • DELHI 59/2 (6.0) CRR: 9.83 REQ: 8.64 Delhi Capitals need 121 runs in 84 balls
  • Powerplay: What was turning out to be a solid stand for the first wicket, one seeing Delhi fruitfully utilise the field restrictions has turned into a precarious situation for them. The wicket of Dhawan leaves them in a predicament given the way their middle-order has thrown it’s wicket away. 59-2
  • Second Wicket ; S Dhawan b Harbhajan Singh 19 (13b 1×4 1×6) SR: 146.15
  • Big wicket here for Delhi. Completely unnecessary shot from Dhawan and only he has himself to blame for this dismissal. The eyes were elsewhere, the bat somewhere else and the ball goes between his bat and pad as he’s bowled by Harbhajan for 19
  • DELHI 49/1 (5.0) CRR: 9.8 REQ: 8.73 Delhi Capitals need 131 runs in 90 balls
  • DELHI 34/1 (4.0) CRR: 8.5 REQ: 9.12 Delhi Capitals need 146 runs
  • Over 4: Both Shreyas and Dhawan have started to get a go on here. Delhi are realising that if they can’t even make full use of the field restrictions then it’s going to be a lost cause. Last 2 overs proving fruitful to take them to a steady 34-1
  • END OF OVER:3 | 9 Runs | DC: 21/1 (159 runs required from 17 overs, RR: 7.00, RRR: 9.35)
  • DELHI 12/1 (2.0) CRR: 6 REQ: 9.33 Delhi Capitals need 168 runs
  • Over 2: With yet another debacle of an innings from Shaw coming to an end in the first over itself and spin on in the second, Delhi have been put under massive pressure right from the beginning. Being given no time to settle down at all. 12-1
  • END OF OVER:1 | 8 Runs 1 Wkt | DC: 8/1 (172 runs required from 19 overs, RR: 8.00, RRR: 9.05)
  • First Wicket : PP Shaw c Raina b Chahar 4 (5b 1×4 0x6) SR: 80.00
  • Dhawan and Shaw the ones who’ve walked out as per usual to come in and open the batting for Delhi here. While Dhawan has been in good form, Shaw at the other end is the main problem. Too may starts to be converted into nothing worthful. For CSK, it’s Chahar who opens the bowling
  • Second Inning Start : Prithvi Shaw and Dhawan are at the crease. Prithvi Shaw is on strike. Chahar will open the attack
  • Faf du Plessis: It’s important for us to start like that, we have lost a lot of wickets in the Powerplay in the last few games. We struggled upfront, but it was expected because it was not easy. Very happy with the total, they can still bat well. But in conditions like these, it’s a good score. No dew, hopefully the spinners can play their part. We have three spinners, excited for the second half.
  • END OF OVER:20 | 21 Runs | CSK: 179/4 | RR: 8.95
  • Dhoni and last ball sixes is a story for the ages
  • 21 runs off Boult’s culminating over and after managing just 3 runs in the opening 3 overs, the 179 that CSK have managed has left the Capitals in complete tatters. They completely lost their way in the closing overs, failing to get the ball or fielding placement right and they have to pay the price of that languishing display. This is going to be an extremely massive target to chase this down here
  • Morris’ 19th has been an ordeal from Delhi’s perspective. An agonising 7 balls, one that has seen Delhi completely squander the initiative they had garnered earlier on. He’s gone for 19 runs here, allowing CSK to all of a sudden reaching an extremely menacing score
  • Fourth Wicket : Jadeja c and b Chris Morris 25(10) [4s-2 6s-2]
  • Jadeja’s heave sees him give his wicket to Morris. The ball hovered in the air for some time but Morris came running in to take the catch off his own bowling. Jadeja has done his job here though with the 25 run innings coming off just 10 balls
  • Score after 18 overs CSK 140-3
  • Tidy neat over here from Boult yet again. You need to posses a sensational ability to mix up your deliveries at the death end of the innings and Boult is doing that to perfection. Used everything in his artillery here but the last ball six by Jadeja spoils it
  • CSK: 126-3 after 17 overs
  • Rutherford drops Jadeja. Completely misjudged the trajectory of the ball, taking his eyes completely off it and it ends up going over his head. A poor bit of fielding, fine margins going against Delhi as Jadeja follows up with a 6 and 4. 116-3 after 16 overs
  • CSK: 102-3 after 15 overs
  • Third Wicket : 4 4 6 . W: After getting 14 runs from the over, the straighter delivery has outdone him here. Bowled at a widish line and length, a false shot by him sees him only hole the ball out to Dhawan to depart for 59
  • 50 up for Raina. Bowled back of the length, allowed him to come towards the ball to it’s pitch and he’s hit the ball straight back over the bowler for a boundary. Follows up with a six and he’s finally playing an innings that was otherwise absent always.
  • CSK: 88-2 after 14 overs
  • Second Wicket : Spin pays off for Delhi with Faf du Plessis becoming the latest wicket to fall. He’s gone for 39 runs, an innings which was starting to slowly get on it’s way. The wicket has fallen at the wrong stage for CSK especially with the way these two were finally set in the middle.
  • Chennai – 81/1 (13.0 Ovs – CRR:  6.23 – du Plessis 33 – Raina 44
  • CSK: 69-1 after 12 overs
  • Chennai – 59/1 (10.4 Ovs)
  • Over 10 Update: CSK’s skirmish here sees them just about scamper past the 50 run mark at the halfway stage. It’s been Raina who has been doing the bulk of the scoring here with Faf going nowhere with his shot selection
  • Chennai – 51/1 (9.2 Ovs)
  • Over 8: Spin has been called upon here by Delhi and for once the bowling changes by them have been just right. With Mishra getting massive spin as he ruthlessly gets the ball to shape into Faf and Raina, Delhi are enjoying themselves. 40-1
  • CSK: 36-1 after 7 overs
  • Powerplay Update: The balls that Watson sucked up have proven to be a treacherous task for CSK. They’re finding it an extremely difficult ask to negotiate around Delhi’s specialist pacers here and find the ball go to the boundary. 27-1
  • First Wicket : This is just the start Delhi would have envisioned here. Some absolute rippers are seeing the ball massively deviate and misbehave on this surface which has reverted to type. Nothing for the batsmen to play around with with such ravishing line and lengths after 5 overs. CSK: 17-1 after 5 overs
  • Incredible start by the Capitals here. No matter how low, slow and start and stop this surface is, the pacers have done a mammoth job of keeping the bowling wicket to wicket. They’ve given away absolutely nothing here. 3-9 after 3 overs.
  • CSK: 3-0 after 3 overs
  • CSK: 1-0 after 1 over
  • First Inning Starts : du Plessis and Watson are at the crease. du Plessis is on strike. Boult will open the attack
  • Delhi Capitals (Playing XI): Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer(c), Rishabh Pant(w), Colin Ingram, Sherfane Rutherford, Axar Patel, Jagadeesha Suchith, Sandeep Lamichhane, Amit Mishra, Trent Boult
