A target that was supposed to be a difficult one to navigate for Delhi, in the end, became as easy as they come. Once again showing why they have been perhaps one of the best sides this season away from home, the Delhi Capitals in a supreme batting display took apart the Royals bowling unit with such rampant ease. Chasing a hefty 192 run target, Delhi reached the huge score with 4 balls to spare to win by 6 wickets, an extremely well-crafted win that has all but a stop to Rajasthan’s campaign for 2019.

Walking out on a Sawai Mansingh stadium pitch that was a much improved one much to the pleasant surprise of everyone, Delhi knew they had to up the ante right from the opening ball if they were to have a chance of rounding up the job at hand. And as Dhawan took no time in peeling apart the runs, a jaded Shaw was allowed to take his time, play out a slow inning with Dhawan hitting the boundaries from the other end to bring up the 50 run opening partnership within the powerplay overs.

Despite striking back with two quick wickets of their own in the form of Dhawan (54) and Shreyas (4), both falling to the slower stuff, the Royals failed to make the most of the incentive that fell their way. Wayward bowling continuously sent down Pant’s pads, a compounding decision given how much he likes the legside stuff was cleaned apart by him in 36 ball 78 run inning. As the fourth wicket stand put on an 84-run stand, Rajasthan had no one but themselves to blame for falling behind in the match with diabolic and woeful bowling seeing Delhi clean them out to emanate yet another successful run chase.

With both the batsmen going so strong, RR looked well comfortable to seamlessly resonate a 200 plus total before Delhi extremely well to limit the runs, showing good fighting spirit to see Rajasthan end up 10 runs short of what they would have imagined at the 15 over the mark.
