From fielding team’s point of view, this is exactly the kind of performance that is required. Despite being attacked in the first half, good captaincy and putting up pressure on the middle order lead to increased chance of defending the total.

Opening Bowler- #Ishant Sharma bowled the 1st over & 2nd over was bowled by #Kagiso Rabada

#Apart from a 4 towards the mid-on in the second over by Warner on a fullish delivery by Rabada, there were no other boundaries scored in the first 5 overs of the match. On the last delivery of the 5th over, Stoinis bowled a short one and the ball hit Bairstow’s leg who pulled a little too early, the umpire gave not out. The decision was reviewed by Shreyas. Ball tracking showed that the ball was clipping the bails and call was the umpire’s call. Bairstow remained not out, the review was retained.

The 6th over by Nortje over was eventful. Shreyas dropped a difficult catch which grazed his fingertips. The last two balls were hit for a 6 and a 4 respectively by Warner.

At the end of power play, 6th over – #SRH – 38 for no loss. Lowest powerplay score for SRH when no wicket was lost. #Warner – 27 off 22, #Finch – 9 off 14

An attempted reverse-sweep led the ball to just graze the gloves before being held on by Pant. Original decision not-out which was reviewed by DC. Ultra-edge showed a minor spike when the ball went over the gloves. The decision was overturned and given #OUT. Warner departed after a good knock of 45(33).

#A brilliant-cut in the 10th over and a marvelous pull in the 11th over from Bairstow provided two much-needed 4s to SRH.

# Manish Pandey attempted a slow sweep in 11.2 overs by Amit Mishra but a top edge led the ball straight to the hands of Rabada at mid-wicket. Pandey departed #out at 3(5).

Score at the end of 12th over -#SRH – 94 FOR 2

#A series of good shots from Williamson who walked in at number 4 helped SRH’s total to move up and improved the run-rate. He scored 5 x 4s in the 14th to 17th overs in what appeared to be a very confident knock. Bairstow scored his second IPL 2020 fifty in the 18th over. The same delivery also completed the 50-run partnership between Williamson and Bairstow.

#Rabada, the king of death overs, cracked Bairstow’s wicket in the same over with a brutal cross seamer. Nortje held his nerves and caught the ball which went high into the sky. Bairstow went back after a good knock scoring 53 off 48 deliveries.

Score at the end of 18th over – #SRH – 145 for 3

#DC 2 for 1 at the end of 1 over

#Dhawan got going in the third over with a cracking 4 which went straight above Bhuvi’s head. He scored another 4 off Natarajan in the 4th over with a beautiful shot towards mid-on. Yet another 4 by Dhawan in the 5th over off an overpitched delivery by Khaleel Ahmed.

#Shreyas Iyer got going too with 2 boundaries. The first one was a full delivery by Khaleel which was tucked away comfortably. Another one was a fine shot by Shreyas over mid-off.

Score at the end of Power Play, 6th over – #DC – 34 for 1. # Shreyas Iyer – 14(16) # Shikhar Dhawan – 18 (15)

#Rashid Khan brought on in the 8th over. He required just two balls to strike as Shreyas skied the ball to deep cover which was caught comfortably by Samad. Skipper Iyer departed #out after scoring 17 off 21 deliveries. Rashid Khan gave just one run and took a wicket in his first over.

# DC – 43 for 2 after 8 overs.

#Rishabh Pant came in at number 4.

#Dhawan scored another boundary with a sweep shot off Rashid Khan in the 10th over.

#Rashid Khan had the last laugh as he cracked Shikhar Dhawan’s wicket in the 12th over. A sound off the bat forced Jonny Bairstow to push Warner for a review for caught behind. Ultra-edge showed the ball grazed the bat. Original decision overturned and Dhawan was given OUT. Dhawan departed for 34(31).

#Hetmyer joined #Pant in the 12th over

#DC – 63 for 3 after 12 overs #Pant – 7 off 14, #Hetmyer – 1 off 1

#Two consecutive 6s by Pant in the 13th over helped the Required Run Rate. He struck brilliantly with his two 6s off Abhishek Sharma’s over.

Another 4 off a leg-bye came from Pant, which went past the keeper. Hetmyer began to score with two consecutive 6s off Khaleel Ahmed in the 15th over. The first one was hit over the cow corner off a full toss delivery. The second one was an off-cutter which went for a maximum too.

Score after 15 overs – #DC – 104 for 3

#Bhuvi struck in the 16th over as Hetmyer got #out caught by Manish Pandey who managed to catch the ball after it bounced off his hand on first touch. Hetmyer sliced the ball towards the longest boundary at long off. The choking began after Hetmyer departed for 21 off 12 deliveries.

#Stoinis started his inning with a cracking 4 with a backfoot shot towards third-man. Pant scored another 4- boundary at the end of the 16th over with a whacker.

#Rashid Khan took his 3rd wicket of the match as Pant was #out caught by Priyam Garg. Excellent delivery from the star spinner forced Pant to sweep it which was edged towards deep square leg and taken comfortably. Pant departed at 28 off 27 deliveries.

#Stoinis was given #out on an LBW off Natarajan in the last ball of the 18th over. In an attempt to shuffle the ball, Stoinis missed it completely and the ball hit the pads right in front of the stumps. Umpire gave out, DC reviewed in the hope of a miracle as he was their last hope against a brutal bowling attack. Ball tracking showed all reds and the original decision was retained, review was lost.

#Rabada scored a 4 over extra cover off Bhuvi’s delivery in the 19th over. He was dropped by Manish Pandey in the final over. Khaleel Ahmed bowled Axar Patel #out in the final over with a gusher. The final delivery was hit for a 6 by Rabada with a great cover-chip drive. #DC fell short by 15 runs.

SRH won the match by 15 runs

Match Learning – A decent score and winning mindset while bowling is the formula for success. With this match, now each team has won at least one match in the IPL 2020, making the competition more challenging.

#DDPadikkal playing his first #IPL deals only in 4’s whenever he gets a ball coming up to him or gets one in his Arc. B.Shankar bowled him out at 56, but the lad is capable of hitting 100’s.

#MMarsh nearly twisted his right ankle and that makes him prone to repeat injury.

#5th over of #SRH was bowled by #MMarsh & #BShankar as the injured Marsh couldn’t finish it. B.Shankar showed that he needs time to get his rhythm. #Sandeep of #SRH can deal #Yorkers wholesale. Has got Kohli out many times earlier.

#Abhishek of #SRH trapped #Finch lbw on the very next ball after Padikkal got out. This boy is trouble for any batsman and is a great all-rounder. So, 2 out & #Kohli + #deVilliers walk on the pitch in the 12th over.

Yesterday match highest wicket-taker – Mohammad Shami – 3

#KLRahul of #KXIP impressed as a debutant captain. His lack of control/ guidance in the last over by #Jordan could be a cause for concern.

Awesome #Shami of #KXIP was in control from Ball-1. His hard work through the Lockdown is being spoken about as the main reason. Took wickets of #Prithvi, #Shreyas. #DC lost Shikhar Dhawan in the 1st over to a runout. This guy needs to work on the younger teammates to get full support.

By the 5th over #DC was 3down for 14. Shreyas Aiyar & Rishabh Pant are the lads to watch out for through the tournament. #Bishnoi took the Prize scalp of #Pant at 86 in the 14over. One of the tricky Spin bowlers this #IPL2020. #Stoinis rocked with 53 of 21

DC 157/8

#DC seamer #Mohit has the makings of a great bowler & got #KXIP #KLRahul out early in the game.

#Ashwin got 2 scalps for 2runs in his first over. The old fox is wily as ever. His enthusiasm got the better of him & #Ashwin may have gotten hurt real bad while diving to save runs.

#Mayank will become a feared player in this tournament henceforth. He took the match to a TIE from a definite win for #DC singlehandedly.
