After playing in the traditional way for 11 IPL seasons, the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has introduced a new change in the IPL Indian Premier League pattern.

Now all teams in the IPL T20 league can take a place with 15 players instead of 11. Here, the concept of the power player is being considered although the final decision rests as this concept is yet to be placed before the governing body of IPL.

IPL 2020 News – This has been done to make the IPL more interesting. The concept of power player will soon be seen in the league. Under this, teams can field 15 players rather than 11 and any of these players will be able to replace any other player at any point in time in the match. Generally, teams can submit a player when a wicket falls or over.

Right now this rule has been put in front of the senior BCCI officials, who have liked it. The concept is yet to be placed before the governing body of the IPL. On Tuesday, a meeting will be held at the head office of the BCCI in Mumbai, in which the concept of the power player will be discussed. If the thing is done, then this rule can be applied from the next season itself.

‘Teams will announce playing-15, not playing-11 before the match’.

IPL 2020 News – Explaining this rule, a senior BCCI official said – “If this rule comes into force, teams will announce playing-15, not playing-11 before the match.  Now imagine that a team has to score 20 runs in the last over. A wicket falls on the last ball of the 19th over and that team takes off to play the last over, Andre Russell, who has neither bowled nor played in the match. Russell comes and gives the match. It will be very exciting.”

If the power player is agreed on in the meeting on Tuesday, then it can be implemented in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well. If this rule works then it will be applicable in IPL as well.
