The second phase of the IPL 2021 will now be held in the UAE. The decision was taken at the BCCI SGM on Saturday. IPL 2021 was suspended on 4 May due to Corona. BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla confirmed that 29 matches were played in the first leg. The remaining 31 matches will now be played in the United Arab Emirates.
Anticipating inclement weather in September and October, the BCCI decided to shift the T20 league to the UAE. The remaining matches of the IPL 2021 in UAE can be held from 19 or 20 September, with the final match to be played in the UAE on 10 October.

The BCCI said in a statement, ‘The Board of Control for Cricket in India has completed the remaining matches of the IPL 2021 season in the UAE in the months of September-October this year given the monsoon season in India Has announced. The decision was taken at the Special General Meeting (SGM) held on Saturday, where the members unanimously agreed to resume the IPL. ‘
BCCI will also talk to the International Cricket Council (ICC) about the T20 World Cup to be held in India in October-November. The statement further said, “The BCCI’s SGM has requested the officials to extend the time to the ICC to take an appropriate decision on the hosting of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021”.

For the second year running in the UAE,
6 players, 2 support staff and a bus cleaner in the IPL were infected with Corona after which they had to stop in the middle. This will be the first time that this T20 league will be held in the UAE for the second consecutive year. Last year, the IPL 2020 was held in the UAE due to Corona.
