IPL 2022 Mega Auction Rules – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially informed the franchises that the Mega IPL auction 2022 will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. The Indian Premier League (IPL) season fifteen will commence on April 2nd with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Chepauk-Chennai’s home ground. The final match is expected to be held in the first week of June.
The BCCI has already confirmed that two new teams will be included this time. RPSG Group-owned Lucknow and CVC Capitals-owned Ahmedabad are the two new IPL inductees.

RPSG shelled out a whopping INR 7,090 Crores to acquire Lucknow while to get the operations of Ahmedabad-based new IPL franchise CVC Capitals paid INR 5,625 Crores.

IPL 2022 Mega Auction Rules – New Rules for the IPL 2022 Mega Auction?
The IPL 2022 Mega Auction rules are already available in the public domain. As per the new IPL 2022 Mega Auction rules, the existing eight Indian Premier League franchises will get a chance to retain a maximum of four cricketers from their IPL 2021 squad.
The list should not exceed four players. The franchises can retain a maximum of two overseas cricketers and a maximum of three Indian/domestic cricketers. While the point to be noted here is that the total number of players retained should not go past four.
For the two new upcoming franchises in the IPL, the governing cricket body has given them the privilege with a provision of “Special Picks” according to which Lucknow-based IPL franchise and Ahmedabad-based IPL franchise can pick three players outside the Mega Auction IPL 2022. However, they cannot buy more than 1 overseas cricketer and 2 Indian cricketers.
