The IPL emerging player award is given to the player who has demonstrated best performance through the season. The award is given by the BCCI. In order to acquire the Emerging Player Award, the player must meet the following requirements:
- The player should be born on or after 1 April 1993.
- Player should have played 5 or less Test matches or 20 or less ODI’s
- The player should have played in 25 or less IPL matches.
- The player should not have previously won the Emerging Player Award.

2019 – Shubman Gill – Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders’s Shubman Gill was awarded the IPL emerging player award for his decent run in the whole series. He scored 3 fifties and had a strike rate of 124 plus.
2018 – Rishab Pant – Delhi Daredevils
Rishabh Pant was given IPL emerging player award 2018 after the finals. He also received the Stylish Player Award.

2017 – Basil Thampi – Gujarat Lions
Basil Thampi played 12 matches in the IPL 2017 season for Gujarat Lions and took 11 wickets. He went at 9.48 runs per over and gave 38.54 runs per dismissal.
2016 – Mustafizur Rahman – Sunrisers Hyderabad
Mustafizur Rahman was given IPL emerging player award in 2016. In the 16 matches, Mustafizur Rahman took 17 wickets at an economy rate of 6.9 and an average of 24.76.
IPL emerging player award winners Season 1 to 12
2015 – Shreyas Iyer – Delhi Daredevils
Shreyas Iyer played in all 14 matches of Delhi. Iyer took 439 runs at an average of 33.76 and a strike rate in excess of 128. He scored 4 half-centuries, one of which was a 56-ball 83 against Mumbai that won him the award for Man of the Match.
2014 – Axar Patel – Kings XI Punjab
In the 17 matches that Punjab played, Axar picked up 17 wickets more than the impressive economy rate of 6.23.
2013 – Sanju Samson – Rajasthan Royals
Sanju Samson scored a 41-ball 63 to move his team to victory, in the process making him the youngest cricketer in the history of the league to score a half-century.
2012 – Mandeep Singh – Kings XI Punjab
Mandeep Singh scored 432 runs at an average of 27 and a healthy strike rate of 126.31. His batting included 2 scores in excess of fifty which awarded him IPL emerging player award 2012.
IPL emerging player award winners in Indian Premier League
2011 – Iqbal Abdulla – Kolkata Knight Riders
Iqbal Abdulla was Emerging Player of IPL 2011. He won two “Man of the Match” awards and also received the “Rising Star” award. He was the man of the series for India during the Emerging Players Tournament in Australia 2011.

2010 – Saurabh Tiwary – Mumbai Indians
Saurabh Tiwary hit 19 sixes during the course of the tournament as he scored 419 runs at the strike rate of 135.59.
2009 – Rohit Sharma – Deccan Chargers
Rohit Sharma scored 362 runs at 27.84 with 52 being his best. He won two Man of the Match performances, one of which included a hat-trick against Mumbai Indians.
2008 – Shreevats Goswami – Royal Challengers Bangalore
Shreevats Goswami performance of 52 against Delhi Daredevils make him won Man of the Match award.
