IPL 2022 – IPL Emerging Player of the Year – IPL introduced awards such as emerging player of the year to recognize new players for their outstanding performances throughout the season. Every year, a new IPL player is given this award for their excellent performance in the IPL season.

2022 – Umran Malik (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Umran Malik is a rising cricket personality from Jammu and Kashmir who was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2021. In IPL 2022, he played 14 matches and took 22 wickets, ranking fourth in the tournament. Hence, due to his outstanding performance in the IPL, he was named emerging player of the year by earning a prize of 20 lakh INR.
2021 – Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK)
Ruturaj was auctioned for Rs. 6 crores in 2022 after his spectacular performance in the previous year. He left an amazing impression after making his debut in the IPL 2021 season with a score of 635 runs and a highest score of 101 against a team. This Pune-based cricketer was purchased by CSK in 2019 for Rs. 20 lakhs. He was awarded emerging player of the year in 2021.
2020 – Devdutt Padikkal (RCB)
Devdutt is a rising star who has made a name for himself in the under-19 Karnataka Ranji Trophy with his outstanding performance. In 2019, Royal Challengers Bangalore purchased him for Rs. 20 lakhs in the IPL auction. In 2020, he was awarded the emerging player of the year award. In the IPL 2020 season, Devdutt scored 473 runs with five 50s, and a year later in 2021, he scored 411 runs with one fifty and one century.
2019 – Shubman Gill (KKR)
Shubman joined the KKR team in 2018, which completely changed his life. Gill has a good track record in under-19 cricket, where he helped India win the World Cup final in 2018. Shubman played in the 2019 ODI series against New Zealand and did well in the 2020 test series against Australia. He achieved emerging player of the year in 2019 while playing for KKR.
2018 – Rishabh Pant (DC)
A wicketkeeper-batter by nature, Rishabh had earned more name and fame in 2016 by being a part of Delhi Capitals. He gave an outstanding performance in 2018 for Delhi Capitals. He was also nominated for hitting IPL maximum sixes as well as for emerging player of the year in the year 2018 with his highest 684 runs.
2017 – Basil Thampi (GL)
Basil’s debut season with Gujarat Lions in 2017 and was awarded the emerging player of the year. In 12 matches, he took 11 wickets during the season. Basil joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018 for Rs. 30 lakhs.
2016 – Mustafizur Rahman (SRH)
Mustafizur Rahman had a long and illustrious cricket career in Bangladesh, where he first rose to prominence in the under-19 cricket series. Rahman’s outstanding performance against India in the Asia Cup in 2016 earned him a spot in the 2016 IPL season. He was nominated for the award of emerging player of the year.
2015 – Shreyas Iyer (DC)
In 2015, Delhi Daredevils’ Sheryas Iyer was a key player for the team. He was auctioned for Rs. 2.6 crore and purchased by Delhi Capitals. Iyer proved his worth by hitting 439 runs in 14 matches. Currently, he is the KKR captain and was auctioned for Rs. 12.25 Crores. In 2015, he was awarded emerging player of the year award.
2014 – Axar Patel (KXIP)
Axar Patel not only discovered IPL as an incredible platform for his career in 2014, but he also performed his best in the 2014 IPL season. Patel has taken 17 wickets and scored 62 runs, making him a popular choice among many IPL selectors. He was signed by the Mumbai Indians in 2013, but his great abilities were revealed a year later in KKR.
2013 – Sanju Samson (RR)
Snaju Samson has given his best in his starting years of IPL in 2013 when he played for Rajasthan Royals. In 2013, he was awarded emerging player of the year award. During the season, he showed his incredible batting and wicket keeping capabilities. However, in 2016, he went to play for Delhi Daredevils. But, two years later, je was back in the RR squad.
2012 – Mandeep Singh (KXIP)
Mandeep has gained a great cricket experience by playing for different IPL teams including Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders, but currently he is playing for Delhi Capitals. He was awarded for emerging player of the year in 2012.
2011 – Iqbal Abdulla (KKR)
Iqbal Abdulla’s best performance came in 2008, when he traveled to Malaysia for the Under 19 World Cup. He was the best wicket-keeper at the time, and his outstanding performance earned him a spot in the 2008 IPL in the KKR squad. His first IPL performance was poor, but in 2011, he displayed his brilliance by taking 16 wickets during the season and was named as the emerging player of the year.
2010 – Saurabh Tiwary (MI)
Sourav Tiwary was a key player in the 2008 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and he impressed enough IPL selectors to be invited to join their squad. However, while playing for the Mumbai Indians, this left-handed batsman made an impression, scoring 419 runs and earning an orange cap along with emerging player of the year award.
2009 – Rohit Sharma (DC)
Rohit Sharma has an exceptional history in IPL! He debuted in 2008 with Deccan Charges where he performed as a key player of the team for three consecutive years before finally moving to Mumbai Indians. In the year 2009 he took 11 wickets and scored 362 runs. He was awarded the emerging player of the year award in 2009.
2008 – Shreevats Goswami (RCB)
Shreevats Goswami had played only four matches as a member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2008, but he was awarded the emerging player of the year in 2008.
