A Large crowd gathered outside Chennai Hospital after four times Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa suffered a heart attack on Sunday night.
J Jayalalithaa has been receiving treatment for months now, and news has sparked fear among her supporters about her condition.
There are also speculations and concerns that a serious deterioration in her condition could spark unrest in Tamil Nadu. Police have been put on alert across Tami Nadu and her official residence.
Her party said she is fine after a heart surgery early morning, although sources at the hospital say that she is in critical condition. Sources also said, Legislators from her party are gathering at the hospital with senior Ministers, and are likely to meet informally.
Four doctors from Delhi’s premier AIIMS institute have been sent to Chennai, said union Health Minister JP Nadda, who is getting regular updates from Apollo Hospital in Chennai.
She is now being treated with ECMO (Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation) device, which specifies that she is being assisted in breathing and in heart function.
In a series of tweets last night on the politician’s health condition, Apollo Hospital asked for prayers for the leader’s recovery.
