Kajal Sharma disability rights activist – What is a disability? It is a physical or mental condition that limits a person’s movements, senses, or activities. But do you believe that people with disabilities could make the world change? Well yes, they can and they are doing it. Today, we’re going to tell you about Kajal Sharma who is disabled. She is 40 years old and has Cerebral Palsy since childhood. She is a state and national award winner, who has also acted for a TV show, ‘Mayavi Malling’ on Star Bharat. Kajal also has a keen interest in singing.

Kajal Sharma disability rights activist – State and National Award Holder for Disability Advocacy
In 2015-16, the Government of NCT of Delhi presented Kajal Sharma with a State award for working towards making provision of accessible toilets for women with disabilities in Indian cities and ensuring that religious places, transportation systems and buildings are accessible for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
She is a national award holder and was congratulated by the President and the Vice President of India for her work towards disability advocacy for inclusive banking, inclusive healthcare facilities, and for making public spaces accessible on 3rd December 2019.

Being a person with a disability, Kajal believes that the challenges in the life of persons with disabilities for equal participation in society are not only medical but also societal and physical, which are created by people in the society itself. This is one of the primary reasons why she has taken up the responsibility for sensitizing the citizenry. She has been ensuring that persons with disabilities and senior citizens must get the opportunity to live a dignified and happy life just like any others.

Not only this, but Kajal has also won court cases fighting for the rights of persons with disabilities for having access to banking facilities and health insurance services. It was tough for Kajal, who has not studied in any mainstream schools, but she had the courage to get special education from special schools and is flourishing her future along with those who need help in whatever ways possible.

Following this, she also looks out on making arrangements for assistive devices for disabled women like wheelchairs, crutches, and tricycles. She looks out to provide free wheelchairs for elderly, free wheelchairs for senior citizens, and free wheelchairs for seniors who cannot afford them. She believes that this helps in making them self-reliant and also provides them with the independence to move around.

Lately, she is looking to raise money to buy wheelchairs for persons with disability. Continuing her zeal, she has made a move to arrange tricycles and free wheelchair for disabled people. A single tricycle wheelchair costs Rs 7000 and she has set a goal of raising Rs 5 lakhs. We all should try to contribute to this good cause and spread the word for free wheelchair in delhi to the needy.
