After the Indore Patna Express derailment accident yesterday, the Death toll has reached 142, and many are expected to be stuck in Mangled coaches. Rescue workers are searching for the possible survivors.
Cranes and gas cutters are being used to pull out survivors/ bodies at the accident site near Kanpur.
14 coaches were reportedly gone off track when the Indore-Patna Express was speeding through Pukhrayan which is 60 km from Kanpur.
Ramanand Tiwari, a relative of the victim said, “I am looking for my brother, Who knows? He may have changed his seat…We have searched everywhere…”
hundreds of Army men, National Disaster Response Force, and Police personnel are at work at an accident site, trying to rescue as many people as possible.
The accident has been reported as the worst in 6 YEARS.
Officials said that a fault in the tracks could have caused the accident yesterday.
Indian Rail minister, Suresh Prabhu has ordered an investigation. Railways have video graphed the Entire track to ascertain the reasons for the derailment.
Conditions went worst when some injured passengers were mysteriously given cash, mostly in the denomination of scrapped Rs. 500 notes, while they were admitted to a hospital.
Over 200 people were injured. Among those who were given Rs. 5000 cash by some unknown persons were Asha Mishra and Anil. Both received 10 notes of Rs. 500, which have been declared invalid since November 8.
Although, authorities have promised to probe into the matter.
Suresh Prabhu termed the matter as “a very sad” development and said, “If railway authorities have done it, even then it is sad and if some politician has done it, then it’s more upsetting because you can’t rub salt in people’s wounds.”
