Key Excerpts from Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi speeches in No-Confidence Motion
When Rahul Gandhi started his speech, a lot was expected from the champion of a failing Congress. Expected to blow apart the NDA after leading the no-confidence motion, Rahul Gandhi sizzled but failed to explode. He once again proved to be the laughing stock after he dug a hole for himself with his hug and wink act that was condemned not only by the BJP, speaker but also members of the UPA. Here is what all the Congress president said in his highly entertaining and childish façade of a speech.
With big claims of causing an earthquake with his speech and making loud but empty promises of not making the prime minster see into his eyes after his speech, Rahul began his speech. He started off with the Rafale deal, claiming the Government was hiding facts from the country which the French president had personally told him could be revealed to the nation. Not only was this baseless allegation rebutted by defence minister Nirmala Sitaraman but was also said to be false by the French government who in a statement revealed a secrecy pact between the two countries.
Rahul’s fake accusations didn’t die there though. The 50-year-old child in a man’s body continued with his haphazard speech in which he spoke about everything but the issues at hand. And the most surprising moment of his drama ended with his final act after he went to hug Modi post his speech. His immature act continued to reach another low height after he winked soon after the hug, showing to the world the façade he was trying to pull off. Not only was this Bollywood-esque act pulled by the NDA but also smashed by the speaker Sumitra Mahajan who in a strong statement asked him to uphold the sanctity of the house and continue with such acting outside it.
In contrast the Prime Minister’s speech was completely worthy of the occasion at hand. A substantial and factual speech by Modi saw him destroy the Congress, providing facts and statistics for every argument of his. Here are the key highlights of his speech:
The fight against corruption and black money will continue. Due to this, I know that many vested interests, who have enjoyed the gravy train for 7 decades hate me but that is fine.

He blasted Gandhi on his “can’t look me in the eye,” remark and retorted, “How can I look into your eyes since you are ‘naamdaar’ and I am born into a lower caste and to a poor mother? Today in the House, I was told that I cannot even look straight in the eye. How can I? I am a humble, poor son of a poor mother. How can I dare to look straight into the eye of a ‘naamdaar’? I am ‘kaamdaar’.
PM Modi responded to the accusations levied against him by Gandhi earlier in the day and said “truth is being crushed” by the Opposition. “This is a childish thing to do, especially for people who have been in power for so many years,” Modi said.
He also spoke about the government’s dedication to Andhra Pradesh.”NDA respects the dreams and aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh, but we need to also ensure that the government is bound by the 14th Commission report,” Modi said.
