KK Singer Biography – Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, was one of the best playback singers in India. From Pyaar ke Ye Pal to Yeh Hausle, he left a musical legacy for his fans. His songs were for all age groups and emotions. From the first love anthem, Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar Hai to his heartbreak song, Tadap, his songs were popular with all generations.

KK was born on 23rd August 1968 in a Malayali family. He was brought up in Delhi. He completed his schooling from Mount St Mary’s School and later graduated from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University.
After graduation, he worked as a marketing executive for 6 months. But later in 1994, he left for Mumbai.
KK got his musical break in 1994 when UTV called him for Santogen Suiting advertisement jingle. In the next 4 years, he sang more than 3500 jingles before making his Bollywood debut.
In 1999, Sony Music launched KK as their new artist and his first album, Pal became a huge hit. He was awarded the Screen Award as best singer for his debut album.
His 2nd album was released in 2008, titled Humsafar. The album had 8 new composed songs while 2 were from his previous album. The 2nd album was also a success for KK.

KK also gave voice to many TV serials like Shaka Laka Boom Boom, Hip Hip Hurray, Kkavyanajali, etc.
Krishnakumar Kunnath has contributed his best not only in Hindi, but he has sung songs in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, and Gujarati languages.
KK has sang many popular songs for top movies, including “Tadap Tadap Ke” for movie “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”, “Dola Re Dola” for “Devdas”, “Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai” for “Woh Lamhe”, “Aankhon Mein Teri” for “Om Shanti Om”, and “Zara Sa” for “Jannat”.
KK has received several awards during his musical career. In 2009, he was awarded the Best Playback Singer-Male during Screen Awards for his song Khuda Jaane. In 2010, he was awarded the Filmfare Awards South in the category of Best Playback Singer-Male.

Krishnakumar Kunnath married Jyothy in 1991. He has two children, Tamara Kunnath, a daughter, and Nakul Krishna Kunnath, a son. He recorded a song called “Masti” for his album Humsafar with his son Nakul.
On May 31, 2022, while performing in the Sir Gurudas Mahavidyalaya fest at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata, he complained of feeling uncomfortable. He was rushed to hospital but died of cardiac arrest before reaching there.
His family, fans, and followers are mourning the death of the legendary singer all over the world.
