Going ahead with Korea Open 2018 India Campaign ends on Day 1, the BWF Super 300 event’s starting day resulted in bitter disappointment for India after Kashyap lost in a match that lasted an hour and four minutes. Taking on Lee Dong, Kashyap was thoroughly schooled in the first set of the opener. It was all too easy for Dong in the opening exchanges of the match, taking points off Kashyap for fun to cruise to a 7-21 win.
Kashyap did put up some resilience though, finding his way back into the match in the second set to level things at 1-1. The third was a copy of the first for Kashyap with Dong taking no time to make short work of him, winning 8-21 to proceed to the next round.
Verma played out a three-setter as well, a 50-minute clash that ended against him. It was a much closer affair though with Verma taking the last set right down to the wire before Eetu Heino finally broke free to win consecutive points and with it the game.
