Barcelona defeated bottom-placed Espanyol 1-0 to keep their hopes of the La Liga title win alive. After the loss to their city rivals, Espanyol are certain to be relegated from La Liga. Barcelona on the other hand, sit at the second place in the La Liga points table with 76 points just one point behind table-toppers Real Madrid.

The game witnessed two red cards, one to either team and just one goal in the duration of the match. Espanyol created a 5-man defence in the first half to keep their neighbours from opening the scoring. The goalless first half was followed by the only goal of the match coming from Luis Suárez in the 56th minute. He surpassed Laszlo Kubala to become the third top-scorer of Barcelona with 195 goals to his name while playing for the club. Barcelona’s Ansu Fati was shown a red card in the 50th minute just minutes after he came on to the field as a substitute. It took just 3 minutes for both teams to be reduced to 10 men with the visiting team’s Pol Lozano also been shown the red card in the 53rd minute following a VAR review.

Real Betis beat Osasuna 3-0 at home to gather 41 points from 35 games while Osasuna are 4 points ahead at 45 points from 35 games. Real Betis are at the 13th place, two places behind the visiting team.

Real Betis opened the scoring early on in the game with Guido Rodríguez’s 4th-minute goal. His left-footed shot struck the bottom right corner of the visitors’ goal. The first half witnessed two goals from the home team. The visitors tried hard to come back into the game in the second half. A couple of missed attempts from David García and Pervis Estupiñán kept the scoreline intact until seven minutes into the stoppage time when Carles Aleñá scored the final the goal of the game with his left-footed shot which struck the bottom right corner of the goal. He was assisted by Loren Morón. The final scoreline was 3-0 in favour of the hosts.
