Loi krathong
Loi Krathong is the annual festival in Southwest Thailand. Loi means “to float” and Krathong means “Floating basket” or “floating decorations”. Each floating basket is decorated with Candles, Incense sticks and is set afloat in the Krathong river while making a wish.
The Festival originated from ancient ritual of paying respect to water spirits and symbolizes letting go all the anger and hatred.
In some parts of Thailand, usually in the north, People celebrate it by launching Sky lanterns. The sky full of these Sky lanterns is a pleasant sight to look at.
