mahendra singh dhoni retirement news- MS Dhoni’s future hasn’t been clear yet. After India’s debacle from the semi-final of the world cup 2019, some tough question is raised regarding MS Dhoni’s participation in the World T20I which would be held in Australia next year.
If MS Dhoni prolongs his retirement will he be in the playing XI? As we all know that Dhoni is not that old Dhoni who could whack the ball. His hitting powers have been reduced by a fair margin.
He needs good support at the other end to clinch a thrilling match. Dhoni cant do it by himself like his heydays. So India will have a lot of issues pondering over them.
Dhoni has managed to keep his wicket intact but he hasn’t been that big hitter which India wanted from him. In this case, he may not be in the world T20I squad.

For a test, Dhoni needs to be selected for the West Indies tour. India will play 3 T20Is and 3 match ODI series starting from August 3rd 2019.
MS Dhoni also needs to play the 3 match T20I series when South Africa tours in the month of October 2019. These are the contest which can prepare MS Dhoni for the World T20I tournament in 2020.
But the availability of this legend is a question. Dhoni is not sure of participating in the tour to West Indies. Rohit will lead the side and players like Bumrah, Bhuvi and Shami might be also rested for this limited-overs series.
India will groom Rishabh Pant in this series. Pant had an ordinary outing in the limited-overs format. He hasn’t been India’s go-to man in the limited-overs cricket.
He didn’t use the opportunity to India home in the semi-final match against New Zealand. It was his game and he had started off well in that chase. He is not matured enough to hold back against Santner. He was impatient and played a rash shot to get out.
Pant needs to be very careful with his shot selection. Virat Kohli also said the presentation that they should be better with the shot selection.
If Pant is the man to replace MSD then he should be given chances in the upcoming limited over series against West Indies and South Africa.
Rishabh Pant is only 15 T20 Internationals old. In that, he scored just 233 runs till now. So the tour to West Indies will give him a lot of exposure and the home series against South Africa will test his ability.
But the selectors should also include Dhoni in those limited over series because it will give an opportunity for young Pant to learn a lot from a legend like Dhoni.
And in the inclusion of Dhoni, we will see whether he still can be fit to feature in that World T20 squad which will go to Australia in 2020.
