Manipur Assembly Election 2022 Dates List – The Legislative assembly election would be held in two phases in Manipur from 27 February, 2022 to 3 March, 2022. Notification Date: 1 February, 2022
Nomination Last Date: 8 February, 2022
Scrutiny of Nomination: 9 February, 2022
Candidate Withdrawal Last Date: 16 February, 2022
Polling Date: 27 February, 2022

Phase 2
Notification Date: 4 February, 2022
Nomination Last Date: 11 February, 2022
Scrutiny of Nomination: 14 February, 2022
Candidate Withdrawal Last Date: 16 February, 2022
Polling Date: 3 March, 2022

The state has 60 constituencies:
40 – General AC
1 – SC (Scheduled Castes) AC
19 – ST (Scheduled Tribes) AC

Current Government

In 2017, NDA formed a coalition government with BJP taking the lead. The government was formed with the following alliances:
BJP+ – 29 seats
NPF (Naga People’s Front) – 5 seats
NPP (National People’s Party) – 3 seats
IND – 1 seat

Indian National Congress is the opposition party. Although INC emerged as the largest single party with 28 seats in 2017, BJP was able to form the government with its alliances. Currently, INC has 14 legislators and BJP (own) has 26 legislators, with MLAs switching parties during the tenure.
The tenure of the current government would end on 19 March, 2022.

Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) led by N.Biren Singh
Indian National Congress (INC) led by Okram Ibobi Singh

National People’s Party (NPP) led by N Kayisii
Communist Party of India led by L.Sotin Kumar
Communist Party of India (Marxist) led by K.Santa
All India Forward Bloc led by K.A. Mangang

Manipur Assembly Election 2022 Dates List

All India Trinamool Congress and Nationalist Congress Party are also expected to contest the elections.
The ruling party BJP has already begun its polling campaign while the opposition party INC is also gearing up for the campaign.
However, due to the COVID surge, Election Commission has banned all rallies till 15th January.

• The elections would be contested for 60 constituencies.
• The total number of voters in the state are 20,34,966
• The number of male voters is 9,85,119.
• The number of female voters is 10,49,639.
• The number of third-gender voters is 208.
• Phase 1 would include polling in 38 constituencies.
• Phase 2 would include polling in 22 constituencies.
