Manipur Assembly Election 2022 Dates List – The Legislative assembly election would be held in two phases in Manipur from 27 February, 2022 to 3 March, 2022. The parties would contest for 60 seats in the election. The last elections were held in 2017 with BJP leading the coalition government in Manipur. N.Biren Singh is the current chief minister, and the party’s ruling would end on 19 March, 2022.

Current Government
In 2017, NDA formed a coalition government with BJP taking the lead. The government was formed with the following alliances:
BJP+ – 29 seats
NPF (Naga People’s Front) – 5 seats
NPP (National People’s Party) – 3 seats
IND – 1 seat
Indian National Congress is the opposition party. Although INC emerged as the largest single party with 28 seats in 2017, BJP was able to form the government with its alliances. Currently, INC has 14 legislators and BJP (own) has 26 legislators, with MLAs switching parties during the tenure.
The tenure of the current government would end on 19 March, 2022.

All India Forward Bloc led by K.A. Mangang

Manipur Assembly Election 2022 Dates List
All India Trinamool Congress and Nationalist Congress Party are also expected to contest the elections.
The ruling party BJP has already begun its polling campaign while the opposition party INC is also gearing up for the campaign.
However, due to the COVID surge, Election Commission has banned all rallies till 15th January.

• The number of male voters is 9,85,119.
• The number of female voters is 10,49,639.
• The number of third-gender voters is 208.

• Phase 2 would include polling in 22 constituencies.
